Just to start, we have played several escape rooms in the past (at other places) and we were able to solve the room with minimal help. We brought someone with us that has never done one and we were really talking up how much fun they are.
That being said, we were not able to solve the Protocol Zero Room.
Because? The room is TOO DARK! Can't see anything. Can't tell colors, shapes, can't see letters and numbers. Can't find anything. Sure, they give you a flashlight. ONE. We had only 3 people (2 of which are over 50) and we simply could not see. One person had the flashlight and the other 2 were rendered useless. The details are good (from what I could tell) and there are a few jump scares but it's so dark that something would fall on our arm (for example) and we had no idea what it was. We would find some switch that indicated turning on power or lights but it was minimal. I could understand if the room is dark until you find a switch that lights up the entire room, but that never happened.
We had to ask for clues over and over. Finally, the game ended after 60 minutes and the employee came in and told us we were close but missed the last few things. We complained that it's too dark and only one flashlight is not enough, and she said oh well you could of asked for more flashlights. What??? How would we know that? Why not put several in the room when it begins or offer that before we start?
It was a waste of money and just a bad experience for all. I doubt the person that was in there for their first time would ever want to do...
Read moreFantastic Experience. From an easy online booking to the reception we received upon arrival, top notch service. The place was easy to find, had a nice lobby, electronic and super easy electronic waiver, and had best times posted outside of the rooms. Ultra friendly and we haven't even talked about the escape room yet.
We went with the Protocol Zero room. Very cool and different. Our group of 5 was mixed experience level from first-timers to five-timers. Any more than 5 in this particular room would be pretty tight. At times we were slightly crowded but without giving away too many details, we were soon able to spread out :) But the game was well constructed, the directions as to what is "in play" vs. what is out of play were clear. Hints were readily available at a pace determined by the participants. They were appropriate hints too; not solving the game or puzzle but giving a helpful nudge.
I researched 5 or 6 different escape room places in the Columbus area and landed on this one based mostly on reviews. I would absolutely return here for a different room. Book with Confidence and have...
Read moreMy group and I definitely enjoyed our times there. This was me and my fiancée's first time doing an escape room and we had a blast. We completed Protocol Zero in record time and then the Rest Easy Motel on the next day.
Those two are the more challenging rooms, with good reason. Our escapes were well fought, with a little luck on our side. They were definitely no cakewalk. The escape rate for those rooms are fairly low due to their high difficulty. So I wish anyone luck on their endeavors while tackling them.
They also offer two other rooms at lower difficulty ratings incase you and your party want to challenge those first; I do recommend trying their 'easier' options if you are a newcomer.
Overall, the attendants are extremely polite, the rooms are immersive and properly themed and the experiences were extremely satisfying. My only criticism is to disable auto-correct on the waiver tablets. My name's not Dino Nine Turn, it's Diyonni Turen. But you'll find us as 'Good JuJu Boo' on the board above Protocol...
