STAY AWAY
Sushi factory is not worth trying unless you want to have rude service. There are so many other better sushi places in Columbus that are 100x better (Sushiko, Akai Hana, for some examples) The owner is rude, the sushi chef is just as rude, and the whole experience is just a -100 on a scale of 1-10.
I’ve dined and ordered takeout about 10 total times now and I have received the same service every time (keep in mind the wait staff has nothing to do with this post. It’s all about the owner and sushi chef) The first strike was when I ordered a take out order, the owner told me it would be ready on 15 min. Sounds great right? Well I arrived 10 min after my order time and figured I’d go in to pay and see if it’s even done. The owner freaked out and yelled at his employee and said it’s not ready yet it’s only been 10 min. I wasn’t expecting the order to be done at all, just figured pay them first and wait. The way the owner treated that employee was completely unacceptable.
Second strike, I placed another to go order, they must’ve been busy this night, since the wait was about 1 hour for a to go order. Not a problem what so ever in my mind because I’ll just wait to pick it up. Well somehow the order was done 40 min later, and the owner called me to inform me my order was ready. Thought that was a nice courtesy, well when I didn’t come to pick up my order right when he called, he bombarded my phone with calls and voicemails telling me to come get my order. I came to pick up my order at the quoted 1 hour window time... guess he can’t hold my food for me.
Third and final strike.... I tried to place a larger order to accommodate a family full of people for lunch and dinner. I purposefully called after the lunch rush to ensure I wasn’t throwing a big order at them when they were busy. Called at 2pm, and they refused my order. Their reasoning was that the sushi chef only wants to make 10 rolls per order... how do you feed a full family for lunch and dinner with only 10 rolls?? It wasn’t that they were out of food, they just didn’t want to fulfill my order. A terrible business model in my opinion. I tried to talk to the owner and explained to him that I’m in no rush for the order to be made, and he still refused. He said ordering that many rolls is crazy and they cannot make it.
Well, I took him up on that challenge, I called Sushiko in worthington, placed the same order, and they were able to make it all for me in 20 min without any complaints what so ever.
The sushi here is just not worth the headache. Extremely rude and they have lost all...
Read moreYummmm. This was soooo good. Even though they literally forgot THREE rolls we ordered...and after we were done with this we asked about them and they didn't even ask if we wanted them made (it was the ONE roll my 9 year old specifically went there sunday morning#2 for and the one that my boyfriend really wanted Caterpillar, plus a 3rd I had wanted to try.Sunday Morning) they just removed them from the bill without asking if we wanted them made. They were cooked fish and / or deep fried so leftovers would have been fine if we took some home. Our server we placed the order with brought the food then we never saw her again , we never got checked on to where we could inquire about the missing rolls. My daughter's water was completely empty majority of the meal and my boyfriend and I would have liked refills of hot water for more hot tea as we each only had one cup as well. Another lady ended up bringing our check to us which was the first time we had a chance to ask about the missing rolls. Then a gentleman manager came over and asked what we were missing and I'm not sure he believed us because 3 entire rolls all rang in were missing. So they just returned the bill to us with those 3 taken off and they did apologize but I feel like they should have asked if we still wanted them or not. Disappointing service but great and beautiful sushi that we did have nonetheless. I've had sushi factory many times before , typically carry out, and have always loved it. We still tipped over 22% of our bill of course. Left 80 our bill was 62and some change.
Update! Upon inspecting my photos we were only missing TWO rolls! I was expecting large pieces of eel on top of the Caterpillar roll and didnt realize that's what it was. My sincere apologies!!! The other 2 rolls were still missing along with...
Read moreWe were craving sushi and decided to try this place for the first time and we were impressed! There's many places in the city for sushi, but this place is delicious and affordable!
There is plenty of parking in the plaza and plenty of space inside for dining. The space is cozy and ambient, it was a good atmosphere for dinner. Staff was also super nice and friendly, I believe the owner or manager check in on us a couple times. Our service was great and quick as well.
The menu is a bit overwhelming because there are so many choices! Did I mention that rolls are 50% every day for dine-in! We got a few rolls to share and an order of the tempura calamari, and the rolls were delicious. The calamari was lacking in flavor a bit but the breading was crispy for a bit and then got soggy if you let them sit. I'm sometimes picky with fish and having the too fishy taste, but everything seemed decently fresh and pretty delicious! Overall, we had a great dinner and we enjoyed it. I recommend the Red Bull roll if you want to try a nontraditional roll and like steak, the Spicy Trio if you like octopus, and the Diva roll for a bit of spice. We enjoyed the Moon roll, Spicy Salmon, and Dynamite roll however we didn't find them special to us, but still yummy. Again, everything we got was 50% off and we're excited to come back to try more! We spent about $60 after tip, for two for 6 rolls, which is pretty good for good we thought.
I recommend this place for small group dinners, a casual date, yummy sushi, or just a good meal! It seemed pretty busy when we came, but they had plenty...
