long post I regret ever patronizing Lusso Nail Spa on Sancus Blvd. After mulling over the decision to spend my money at this salon, I decided to take a chance. Beginning January 2024 until today, my preferred nail technician was Tina. Despite my concerns about cultural sensitivity, respect, and not wanting to be treated differently based on my race, like the stereotypes and experiences paraded in many communities between Black and Asian Americans. I continued my services with Tina and was pleased. She was friendly, we had great universal and harmless conversations, and I began feeling comfortable that I finally found a new dependable and professional nail technician.
During my last appointment, I was a little disappointed that not only was Tina 15 minutes late for my appointment, but she was sick. Although she wore a mask, I would have appreciated a quick call in advance to either cancel my appointment or refer me to another technician. Regardless, we got through the appointment.
I made an appointment for my Love an appointment for today, 6/12/24. Unfortunately, Tina and a few others were not as kind to him. It was not until his appointment and him walking through the door that he was told that Tina does not provide services for men. I was never made aware of that and instead of Tina calling his number to confirm his identity (as a male or female client) before the appointment, they waited until he walked through the door, mumbled to one another, gave him unfavorable looks and stares, and then pushed him off to another technician. Tina never said anything to him to at least bring some clarity to the situation. The other technician was nice enough to share with him that she was taking over his services because Tina does not accept male clients. However, that did not happen until after he was embarrassed by the whispers and mumbling to one another about him/the service or whatever was being said.
I called the salon to learn why was he treated that way and why was it so difficult to simply, call the appointment number in advance and share with him, a male patron that the technician does not offer services for male clients rather than waiting to have people snicker and whisper about him at the salon.
Surprisingly, when I called, I spoke to Tina directly. Rather than digesting my concerns, trying to talk through a solution, or at least a level of understanding, she did her best to berate me and tried scolding and yelling at me. And I said she did her best because it really was a sad exchange with someone who I thought had better professional skills and relationships with her clients. Instead, it was a reminder of the stories and experiences I heard from others about being treated at certain salons.
In this day of diversity, inclusion, and equity, we all should be able to conduct and receive professional services when we are spending our money. For six months, I have been a faithful customer, I am an excellent tipper, always on time and a no fuss customer even when there were things that weren't done well, I maintained my support of not only Tina, but the business.
Not only will I no longer be patronizing this salon, but I also encourage anyone to view this review to reconsider spending your money where it is valued. Lusso Nail Salon clearly does not care about its customers, professionalism or diversity, and inclusion. At the time of this submission, no one has reached out to even try to rectify...
Read moreI’m not one for leaving bad reviews bc I’m a very understanding person. I came into get my nails done on 6/12. They took me in as a walk in which was great.. the lady did my nails with dipping powder. I told her I was not a fan of the shape but I was in a rush and I didn’t want to be that person or make a big deal of it. I went out of town on Friday morning and the whole weekend my nails were BURNING! Not just one or two of them but all TEN! They hurt so bad for 3 days straight I was taking ibuprofen for the pain. On Saturday I went to the pool I went to sit my stuff on the chair and my thumb nail snapped and ripped off my real nail half way off… I’ve never had that happen before it was TERRIBLE! I’ve been getting my nails done over half of my life and I’ve never experienced anything like this and I’ve had acrylic, gel, dip! All of the things. I got back in Columbus today and I came to the shop. I explained to them I was just here Thursday and the pain and burning I’ve been experiencing and I showed her my broken nail and that my real nail was also torn off. I told them I’m not asking for a refund or for anything back, all I ask was for the nails to be removed bc I’m in so much pain. The lady that I was talking to was very dismissive. She was not loud or rude towards me but she was very dismissive with my concerns. She told me she would FIX my broken nail for me but they will have to charge me for time and tools used to take them off. I was taken aback by this bc I told her I don’t need the nail fixed they are actually hurting me and it ripped my real nail off.. she told me there is nothing she can do and I can remove them myself. I asked her how can I do this at home and she said with acetone and a drill if I have the right one and I told her I don’t. She laughed in my face and started to walk away from me when another person walked up and just blankly stared at me. The nails are so horribly shaped, and over priced! And the tech that did my nails clearly didn’t do something right as my nail beds are absolutely killing me! I would not recommended this place at all and the staff do not care about the customer just what money they will make! Again, I am not one to make bad reviews or talk badly about companies but these nail salons are out of control! They over charge for every little thing and don’t care at what cost. I will never return to this business
RESPONSE TO THE SALONS RESPONSE.
Let’s clear a few things up! My nails absolutely were NOT comprised nor did I have an issue with them as I had taken a 3 WEEK break from getting my nails done to let them breath a bit! So for you to try to blame me is absolutely unprofessional and truly shows the character of this salon! I never once stated anyone was rude to me! I stated they were dismissive which they were! So again, for you to basically say I’m lying is so unprofessional and again shows your character. I stated I was in a rush for my event and you guys were able to get me in and I didn’t want it to be an issue which is why I didn’t complain about the shape which again they were awful and you can see in the picture they look weird. This response was absolutely so unprofessional and I hope everyone sees this and proceeds accordingly bc this is NOT how a business is ran. I am not the type to complain or leave bad reviews! But this place just proved that...

I have a video I recorded while you were speaking about me. I'll upload it to Tik Tok. I knew to press record when the interaction turned left. I ran the video through Google Translate so let the public be the judge.
Either you take walk ins or you don't.
Making a recommendation is fine but pushing your opinions on customers and giving attitude after they don't oblige is unacceptable.
I stand on my review..it's accurate and an exact depiction of my experience.
I'll let the people decide if your nasty and obvious exaggerated response is true.
I'm not going back and forth with anyone that works for my money.
Have the day you deserve.
This was my second and final visit to Lusso Nail Spa in Polaris—and it was absolutely unacceptable. The first time, I was serviced by Rose. I clearly told her I prefer my acrylic thin because it looks better to me. She argued with me, telling me I shouldn't get it thin because it'll break. I told her I still wanted it that way, and she finally agreed, but not without giving me major attitude. She was aggressive, made my cuticles bleed, snatched my hands repeatedly, and talked under her breath the whole time. Despite her terrible service, the nails turned out decent. That was the only reason I gave it another chance.
Today was even worse. Rose recognized me immediately and made a snide comment: “Oh, you're the one who likes thin acrylic.” I confirmed, and again, she tried to push her preference on me. Once again, I stood firm. She was rough, disrespectful, and openly badmouthed me to another technician while working on me. She completely botched the shape—they don’t even resemble almond. My hands were left covered in dust, oil dripping from my cuticles, and then she shoved my hands away and said, “You’re done.” No courtesy, no professionalism—nothing. I paid $60, refused to tip, and walked out completely disgusted. This was by far the most disrespectful, unprofessional experience I’ve ever had at a nail salon. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from...
