Had my wallet stolen, and noticed a planet fitness membership was being charged — I had to reach out to customer service , they said it was this location . I reach out to this location confirmed that the site had in fact been the one used only once (50 miles from where I live) I reached out to the site , let them know that I had a police report to show where my wallet had been stolen, the manager I contacted them more than 10 times still they claim they are going to refund and I should expect the managers manager to reach out to me — he evidently couldn’t care less about correcting this , because it’s been more than 3 months and they continued to charge me another month, and even refused to refund me or make an inquiry for the police report to verify my story . I’m 3+ months trying to deal with this , never got a call back, never got a refund , the site is one I would not recommend dealing with on a customer service level — I recommend if anyone has a problem with the site , change your card information, and put a block on the site from being able to charge you as their priority is to only get as much money out of you as they can , they have no interest in doing the right thing. Update #1 after reaching out over email as per the owners suggestion per this review comment I am continuing to lose hope as I provided the email from communication with the location in question, along with a photo of the review as requested and immediately the first email I got back was asking if I’ve tried to reach out to the site about the issues when it clearly states in the review I’ve made many attempts , and I even provided email correspondence with the location. I will continue to update but I’m continuing to lose hope and become more frustrated Edit #2 I’ve gotten 4 replies from the above email address after I was told to reply , after I submitted this review in the email. I’ve been asked 4 questions that could have simply been answered if they would have read my review including “have you reached out to the site” and “have you spoken to the site manager” I don’t have high hopes that my issue will be resolved because they cannot seem to even read the review to gather information as these questions have already been answered in the review . Update #3 I’ve reached out to the social email that the owner had requested , they didn’t provide any information aside from asking me if I spoke to the site , and how I did so the last reply from them has been 5 days even when I reached out again asking if they planned to respond — still no response , at this point I would say just just stay away from planet fitness at all because they clearly don’t have a concern for protecting the funds of the consumer in cases as such, 5 of my family members and 3 friends have all cancelled their memberships within the last 48 hours , and once they can without penalty 2 more will also be switching to another gym as well, I will continue to broadcast how poorly planet fitness consumer care has been towards me and I will continue to do so until they correct this , which I hope that they do but there has already been some damage done at this point . Update #4 it’s been a week since they last reached out to me , I’ve sent one email every otherday just to touch base with them about any updates and they’ve even stopped replying to emails “Dee” has been the representative that communicated with me the first 3 days and then I never heard back from , this is again a rather disappointing experience and I would continue to urge people to stay away — all planet fitness seems to care about is getting ahold of your money, and then keeping it hostage even if the way they hold ahold of it was morally incorrect . Sadly it’s not worth retaining a lawyer to get the money back and pay triple the amount planet fitness is holding just to prove a point and they know that it’s not going to happen but I will continue to urge people to STAY AWAY. As a member who was a part of the Planet Fitness community for years, I have always appreciated the welcoming environment and the professionalism displayed by your staff, especially during Stan's tenure. Under his management, the gym ran seamlessly, and incidents were minimal.
However, in the past three months, I have witnessed a significant decline in customer service, cleanliness, and professionalism at the gym. The incident on 1-1-24 between 12:30 and 1 pm involving a minor disagreement between two guests was mishandled and blown severely out of proportion by not only the manager but also by two new employees, whose conduct was concerning. (The video needs to be reviewed when the manager screams out does anybody else have anything to say and threatens to trespass people just watching the seen she has created) I had nothing to do with the situation simply looked at one person and said they’ve been here two weeks they’ll be gone by February!
The lack of effective customer service has been evident, notably with the cleanliness standards in the massage room, gym area, and tanning beds. Dust accumulation and overall filth have become noticeable, which is distressing given the high standards I have come to expect from Planet Fitness the last few years.
What concerns me most is the discriminatory behavior displayed by some staff members. I have witnessed paying guests being targeted, spoken about disrespectfully, and threatened with trespassing simply for expressing valid concerns about the management of the incident. This not only tarnishes the reputation of your establishment but also amounts to defamation of character for loyal patrons.
I am writing this letter not to criticize but to express my genuine concern and disappointment. The environment that was once inclusive and accommodating has now become hostile and uninviting. As a long-term member who values the Planet Fitness community, I implore you to address these issues promptly and restore the standards of excellence and professionalism that once defined this gym.
