This is the best candy and fudge shop in Columbus. Their turtles, buckeyes, peanut butter cups and of course fudge are unmatched in quality and taste. The prices are very good too, almost too good in comparison to the quality and delicious product provided - but I'm not complaining! :)
The customer service is out of this world and you can tell that your business is welcome and appreciated. I recently had an inquiry on the status of some gift orders I had placed on their website and received a friendly prompt response and was also able to call and speak with Tim, who was just an absolute pleasure to speak and work with!
Tim also let me know that there is a "Village Lights" event this Sunday, December 2nd, where you follow the luminaries from shop to shop and enjoy the sights and tastes of the area. I had no idea about it however am so happy Tim made me aware. Hopefully my family and I can attend and of course stop back by Schmidt's for more treats!
Please go visit this wonderful location and wonderful people who run this shop. It's in beautiful, historic German Village and I can promise you won't be let down. Now, you may gain a few pounds from all of the delicious offerings but don't say you were not warned!
Also please don't be selfish and keep them all to yourselves lol. They have an amazing website where you can order their treats and other gifts to send to your loved ones outside of Columbus or Ohio. We sent some to my parents and my in laws up in Cleveland :)
I'll be back again, and again because you just simply can't match their confections and...
Read moreWas in town for a conference in March, stopped in and had a wonderful conversation about the chocolates and fudge. I ended up buying a Bavarian village that unfortunately when I opened up the box this Christmas wasn’t working and missing the battery pack coverage. Tim was very nice and worked with troubleshooting and ordering replacement parts through the manufacturer which unfortunately is out of stock. He was willing to refund or send a new one and I was so appreciative of his good will since I really was outside a reasonable return period and just wanted to see if I could order replacement parts through the manufacturer.
We ended up ending the call with an agreement that I would take it apart and see if I could fix it, and if not we would go along with trying to determine how to get a replacement. I took it apart and was able to fix it, a wire most have popped over during shipping so a super easy fix. I called Tim back this evening not able to wait until tomorrow just to let him know it was fixed and all was good. He still insists on sending me a box of chocolate just for my inconvenience.
I couldn’t wait to revisit this store, and I definitely will be visiting again! Love supporting a small business and these owners have a...
Read moreDon't believe the hype. This is nothing but a tourist trap. The shop is so small you can barely turn around in it. They are selling overpriced Ritter candy bars -$5 each when you can buy them for 2.49 each at Target or pretty much any grocery store. I bought a pecan turtle and the caramel was so hard it broke off the chocolate when I tried to take a bite. Masks are required but the woman working there making chocolates was playing on her filthy cell phone with an ungloved hand WHILE making the candy. Yuck. No hygiene standards at all but I had to wear a mask. Unbelievable. She never even looked up once to greet or welcome us, which was very off putting, especially since we were in such close proximity to her in such a small shop. She was obviously aware of our presence and we were the ONLY PEOPLE in the store at that point. We also had to listen to her conversation with someone about her "booster shots" when we first stepped in the door. Yeah, I really want to hear about the employees personal medical info while shopping for candy....
