Update: I didn’t previously express why I feel April is one of their best and feel the need to do so because I have now gone to 2 other professionals at various W salons (both when a friend was in town, couldn’t get in with April) and both times were not so great for me. 1. She polishes all the way to my cuticle. It doesn’t get on my cuticle but it also doesn’t look like I’ve had a week of growth already 2. She shapes my nails so that no matter what angle you look at them, they don’t seem crooked 3. The polish never looks streaky in any lighting 4. She applies the polish in very thin layers so the end result does not feel like a build up of polish that I can see and feel 5. Last, and most importantly, her cuticle work is precision. I have never bled on her watch.
I've been coming here every 2 weeks for a few months now and I love it. Took a few times to find my perfect person (April) but never had a bad experience. I get gel manicures, which I previously thought ruined my nails but learned it wasn't the gel, it was the dremel! Those things made my natural nails so thin and weak but now they're pretty strong. Last week when she was trimming them down after the gel removal, it took a little more effort than usual.
Quick rundown of the service: acetone soaked cotton with foils for gel removal, good smelling hot towels draped over hands during the wait, gel polish comes right off, trim and file, cuticle removal, gel polish, scrub, lotion and massage. The peppermint scrub is their most popular for a reason and it's what they use during the manicure. I bought a jar. It's the best.
The atmosphere feels trendy but it definitely appeals to the masses. It's very clean and I'm always offered a beverage when I check in.
Book in advance because they get busy and make sure to add on simple nail art or intricate nail art even if you're just thinking about it. It'll give them a good amount of time and your art won't be rushed.

Read moreThis was the most stressful and horrific gel manicure and pedicure that I have ever experienced in Columbus, Ohio. I went to the W bar downtown 4 years ago and had the same terrible experience and I should have known better. As soon as the process started I could tell that it would be terrible. First the technician was over 15 minutes late and I had to "find someone" to figure out who I was supposed to be with. I had booked online a gel manicure with simple nail art, but it was clear after 1 coat of gel polish that no nail art would be able to be performed. The technician who was a very nice person, was unable to paint polish in any sort of straight line. After 4 coats of gel with a polish color that should not have taken more than 2 I asked her to stop and just put some glitter over the color because it was apparent that this color would never look right. There was absolutely no way I was going to allow her to attempt any sort of nail art. The pedicure was so-so, but again my cuticle were in horrific shape both on my nails and toes and when I asked her to fix she was irritated. I get regular manicures and pedicures every two weeks so I am well aware that this technician was the problem. Everything was terrible, and I sat next to someone getting a manicure and a separate individual getting a pedicure both who were having issues. One was back because she had gel on and it came off the next day, and the other ones technician was also incompetent.
