I wanted to provide this review only because I did not have the same experience as some who stayed days before me.
When I arrived, check-in was quick, and this could have been due to my mobile check-in before my arrival.
The hotel and room were clean. Also, the hotel takes safety and CDC safety regulations VERY seriously!
I had a suite and was more than satisfied with my room and view.
Please be aware of the following: (1) There is no microwave in the room, but there is one in the Market Place; (2) ice machines are not on each floor; (3) there are no drinking glasses in the room--this could be due to COVID, so bring your cups; (2) there are no trash bags in the trash cans, so if you eat outside food or bring the kiddies, then bring some plastic bags with you; (3) there IS a small hand sanitizer in the bathroom, good look, by the way; (4) there is limited un/loading parking in front of the hotel, it's long enough for about 3 cars, so you may have to circle a bit if this area is full; (5) there is a parking garage immediately to the right of the hotel. It is convenient to use the back entrance once you receive your key; (6) upon arrival, unless you walk in behind someone, you will have to be buzzed in and after that will have to use your key to enter.
I will say the Engineering staff was quick to resolve an issue. I used my Netflix account on day one the next day, none of the Internet TV apps worked. I kept getting an internet connection error. So I called, OK--tried to call the front desk, but my phone did not work; no worries, I called from my cell, and the associate was helpful and not even a minute after hanging up my phone, there was a knock at the door. The Engineer checked the internet in the living area, which worked, and then the room and saw the error and immediately did a quick fix by unplugging and plugging back the cable, and BAM, the internet apps worked. Maybe about 15 minutes later the phone in the room rang, which startled me because I PROMISE it didn't work earlier. The associate was calling to make sure (1) the phone worked and the TV and asked if I needed additional towels--which I did not turn down, and AGAIN a minute later, there was a knock at the door and, Housekeeping handed me some towels.
Last, I knew an 11:00 AM check-out would be difficult, so I sent a chat via the Marriott app asking if late checkout was available, and luckily it was, so I got to sleep in!
My stay was great, and I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had the displeasure of staying at the AC Marriott on the National Harbor over this past weekend (7/23-7/25). This was my wife's and my first outing since the pandemic took hold, and the United States implemented restrictions. Consider how excited we were to spend a weekend at your establishment. However, we were severely let down. The poor customer service and lack of properly trained staff were made apparent before we even arrived. On Friday, 8/26 around 1 PM (giving you the date and time so hopefully you can invest time in properly training the young woman who answered the phone!). I called to try to upgrade our room to a suite and change the payment information. The young lady I spoke with said she couldn't change the payment info on the phone. She asked if I was in the app, and I told her yes, I'm using the app. She said you can only change your payment information by coming to the front desk, and she couldn't help me over the phone. The problem with that is when I'm in the app - it specifically says I can call to update or change payment information. Needless to say, she wasn't helpful at all, and I found where I can change my payment information online and, in the app. Clearly, she was not trained on how to navigate the app or the website, and Iām better versed in it than a Marriott employee! That is absolutely ridiculous considering how much technology supports people in their day-to-day lives. Now let's get into our arrival at the hotel.
Firstly, when we checked into our room, the room was filthy, covered in dust and dirt. There was random paint on multiple walls and what looked like blood splatter on the wall next to the sink (Pictures attached). Speaking of the sink, we noticed the pipes were molding and disgusting; we all know mold spurs and rust is unsafe and downright unsightly (pictures attached). The shower floor was peeling, the caulking around the handle in the shower looked like it was dripping, and the ironing board has weird stains on it (pictures attached). The coffee making was so nasty with caked-up dust; I could never! My wife and I had to wipe our room with disinfectant wipes to instill some sort of comfort and normalcy in the room. And we wiped down EVERYTHING! Every handle and doorknob, the bed, the shower, sink, toilet, phone, remote control, and light switches (all of them!!!). One of the lamps didnāt even work!!! We expected the room to be in the most pristine condition, given the state...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is our second stay at the AC Marriott. We had so many problems the first time they gave us additional points on our Marriott account, so we decided to stay again.
We liked the fact that we could have two room that were adjoining for our teenage son.
This hotel offers no valet parking. You have to park in a public garage that charges each time you leave and return. This was truly a headache.
I have severe allergies and I requested a feather free room. We had feather pillows on the bed. We also had foam pillows. The staff seemed to not want to be bothered as they had their laptops out and were at another table working. So, my husband cleared the bed of the feather pillows.
The amenities list breakfast. We woke up on Monday and headed to the lobby for breakfast. We were told there was no breakfast because they didn't have enough guest to have breakfast that day. It was freezing cold, and we had to head out to try to find a place for breakfast. We didn't want to drive anywhere because we would have been charge and additional fee for parking. This is deceptive advertising, saying there was breakfast. We came back to look for coffee and the coffee maker was behind the front desk. They had coffee in 3 or 4 oz coffee cups. It truly was unbelievable.
I expect that at some low-cost, low-quality hotels. But not at the AC Marriott National Harbor Conference Center.
As reward members I have come to expect a certain quality at Marriott Hotels. That is why I stay there.
This is my second disappointment, and I will not stay there again. The first time we didn't have breakfast because they said it was under construction. They didn't give me a feather free room then. The shades were broken and wouldn't come down and the TV didn't work.
There are no activities for children. No pool! It is not kid friendly especially with the parking and no valet parking.
It is really sad because this hotel could be a great place to stay. The location is great, the rooms...
