This AMC is great. Parking is plentiful and the theater is located right next to a mall; walk out of the JCPenney and go toward Bar Louie, a set of stairs will lead you to the front. The theater is also within walking distance of the Wheaton metro station. This AMC has a small bar, too, so you can get a nice drink while you're there.
There are nine screens in this cinema. The screens themselves are small, and the reclining seats (which, I digress, are pretty comfy and offer plenty of leg room) are not stadium arranged. With this being said, don't be let down by its size, the sound is just as boisterous as their larger, stadium-arranged counterparts and, quite frankly, the picture quality is better too. Also, word of advice, if your theater screen only has ~6 rows of seats, go for the slots closer to the screen to get the best view of your movie; It's like a budget IMAX up at the front row!
Sure, AMC Wheaton 9 may not have the fancy stadium-style seating arrangement that's pretty much become standard at every multiplex at this point, but that shouldn't stop you from having a cozy movie experience. With all of its amenities, this theater is completely mundane compared to all the other theaters within a 10 mile radius of it, but at the same time that's what makes this theater charming in a sense. With those huge, fancy multiplexes it tends to get crowded and overwhelming. Some people can live with that, sure, but sometimes you just have to get away from the headache-inducing urban bustle and just kick back and be there for a movie and that's it. None of that having to deal with the masses, and that's absolutely fine too.
To sum it all up, this is basically the theater that I go to if I strictly want to watch a movie. Be it for blockbusters that really haven't piqued my attention or for second viewings for other films that I liked. If you're in the area, it's a perfectly convenient theater to...

Read moreWe arrived at about 10:45am on March 2nd, 2024 for an 11am showing of Migration. Tried to enter, but the door was locked. Tried another door and that was also locked. Thought maybe the entrance was up the stairs next to the theater, so me, my 3 year old, and my wife who is 9 months pregnant climbed the 3 flights of stairs and walked out to the upper parking lot. Unfortunately, the only entrance was the entrance we were just at. We walked back down and saw someone else enter the theater. This was probably about 3-4 minutes after our attempt to enter the same doors. Upon entry my wife asked if they saw us at the doors. The girl at the counter said they just opened...
Facility looked nice, but the floors were sticky, which I thought was weird for just having opened. It also smelled a little. I mentioned to my wife that it reminded me of the smell at the zoo.
A couple things weren't working properly. One of the butter stations did not work at all. The other station only put out a trickle of butter. The button in this station was stuck on for about 5 seconds after I released it. When we arrived at our seats, only one of the 3 seats had power. As such, 2 of our seats would not recline.
Not a great experience considering it was the first showing of the day and they were not...
