Banner's Hallmark Shop — Attraction in Fairfax

I’m not gonna lie, this was one of my favorite hallmarks to shop at until my experience earlier. I was here for a release of squishmellows when I was being abruptly rushed to check out at the cashwrap when I was not done shopping. I was snapped at by an associate/Manager who I have seen multiple times at this location who constantly shows a distress towards squishmellows due to it being a high demanded product. I understand completely the distress of selling items that may not please the person due to your own personal thoughts an opinions on goods HOWEVER, it is not appropriate to yell at anyone who is being helped by another associate. It was very clearly observant that me an 2 other women were being assisted an there was no need for the tone to be given. I wasn’t even aware I was being spoken too until I was shouted at. If you keep merchandise behind the counter an your being helped by someone then allow that person to be helped an then let them be directed to check out. I work retail as well. It’s not hard. I only came in here to get a toy for my toddler and at checkout the cashier signed me up for their emails/promotions without even asking me and told me I was able to get a small card for free because I signed up. I was in a rush since I was with my two small kids and I was not trying to hold up the line but this made the interaction way longer than necessary. I do not shop at Hallmark often and I will not be returning because of this uncomfortable experience. The "free" card she made me get was an extra $2.00 on top of the 10 dollar toy that I bought my daughter. I felt like I was taken advantage of especially since I was trying to make my quick 1 item purchase and there were other customers in a line behind me as well. Everyone has a bad day, just like I did. But the moment I stepped into the store, everything changed. Mrs. Maureen and Mrs. Carolina welcomed me with warm smiles and showed me so many new things that instantly lifted my spirits. They were incredibly helpful, guiding me through a wonderful shopping experience that truly made me happy.

I've shopped many times before but never opened a rewards card. However, Mrs. Maureen was so kind and explained the benefits to me in such a lovely way that I couldn’t say no. Her beautiful smile and genuine approach made all the difference.
