I have always been a fan of bass pro shop until today and I’m not happy to tell you why but I’m going to as our only recourse at times is leaving a review. Two years ago, we spent time in the Grand Tetons backpacking early in the season where there was still a good amount of snow. Throughout our trip, we experienced a moose that charged us that was deep in a thicket of willows that we did not see however, I was able to scare it off as my wife took direction and jump behind a big tree. I carry a firearm and bear spray and had the bear spray ready to deploy. Never needing it though. After that, we had a grizzly bear in our camp with a cub that spent most of the evening around our camp, not to mention all the other critters we had around our tent and gear. After that trip, my wife decided she wanted her own backpacking pistol. She is very proficient in firearms handling and wanted a 45 acp that could handle Buffalo Bore hard cast or a 10mm. Sadly she chose poorly. She purchased a small double stacked 45 that she paid around $600 out the door. Today the gun sells new for $599 from most stores. I just checked again. She went to sell it to Bass Pro as it is a bad fit for her small hands and heavy. The rep stated he needed to do some reasearch. And come up with a number. It has about 20 rounds thru it and is in excellent shape. He came back and stated that the gun “new” only retails for $400 and could only give her around $250-$270. I checked Sportsman’s Warehouse, Buds Gun Shop, and several others online just to see the current price. It is selling for $599.00. They would have e listed it for around $450-525 in my opinion. We are in Bass a ton and I know the market very well. I mean very well. They tried to totally take advantage of her and it’s sad to see that. Bass Pro is a very reputable company.
Look, even if you offer her a terrible price, atleast be honest with her. Don’t say you are going to research and then come back with a false number as to what a new one retails for. Even Gun Broker has them for well over $500.
It was our go to spot for gear and gifts, not anymore. Just be honest and honorable. It’s Bass Pro for...
Read moreI was in Vegas for a military retirement ceremony and decided to return a fish finder (Garmin Striker Cast) that I bought in California two weeks back. The reason I chose to return it in Vegas was because I didn't want to drive 1hr out from where I lived to the bass pro where I bought the item from originally. As for the device, there was nothing broken and/or missing. It's just that when I first bought the device I thought connecting to my phone sounded convenient, but in practice it's more of a hassle than it's worth. Anyways, when I tried to return the device the customer service representative, after consulting with management, stated "per policy" that I was not allowed to return the device because "it touched the water." I was confused and was running short on time so I left the store with the device. On my way back to California, I looked up the return policy and it didn't say anything about items touching the water and not being able to return the item. In hindsight, I should of asked the rep to show me their policy in writing. The dishonest statement from this store is troubling to say the least. Fortunately, when I returned to California and drove 1 hr to the original store where I purchased the device from, they took it back with no issues. Prior to buying this fish finder, I have never bought anything other than bait/lures from bass pro. Seeing how difficult it is to return an item, I'll stick...
Read moreThis Bass pro shop is classic. We've been to many pro shops around the country that each have its own unique theme and charm. At this Bass pro shop they have a very good clothing section with competitive prices. The closing as you know is made to last a long time. I'm always struck by some of the other sections for instance the cooking section and prepping section for hunters and fishermen. But Bass pro shop isn't just for outdoorsman it is also a unique place to shop for gifts and well packaged to food items to take back home and give away to family and friends. I don't need to spend much time talking about the guns the ammunition and all of the gear that goes with a necessary hunt that is available here. And of course the whole bottom floor almost dedicated to fishing. Do you want to buy a boat? They have a full selection. Even if you don't want to buy any of these items it's fun to stroll through the store to see how the...
