Where do I begin with this disaster. I call this restaurant about 7 mins before arriving and I ask if I need to make a reservation and I am told there is no need to do so as there is plenty of space available. Okay, so we proceed as such. Upon arriving the hostess asks how many people in my party and I tell her 3. She goes into the restaurant floor and returns to grab 3 menus and to sit us. She brings us to a 2 seat, 2 person table (as seen on the photo) and tells us that is our table. I tell her we are 3 people and she says thats okay I'll bring you a chair for the outer edge. I kindfully and respectfully decline and ask to wait for a bigger table and she puts us on a wait-list taking down my girls name for the party. We notice there are plenty of tables open and I ask if we may be seated at one of those and she tells me that section is close. Okay that's fine I tell her. As I continue waiting for my table other guests show up and start to form a line at the hostess desk as she isn't at her post at this moment. When she returns she proceeds to help the people and asks the first how many in their party, the man says 2. She tells him to wait a second and goes unto the restaurant floor. She then returns and has them follow her and she sits the 2 at a four chair table in the area she just told me was closed. In this moment now Im baffled and call my girl over so she can say something and as she comes to me the next people in line is a party of 3 and she goes and sits them down. So now I am a bit upset and tell her why is she sitting them down before us as we've been waiting and these people came in after us. She then tells me to keep waiting and she'll have a table for me. I continue calmly with wanting an answer as to why she is sitting them before me and another server comes and gets in my face telling me to relax. Now, I am definitely bothered. She now tells me she'll help me to a table and as she does she said she'll get me the manager(never showed up)as well. Now as we wait we finally get attended by a nice server. Takes our orders down and brings us our drinks. We asked for straws for our drinks which we never got. We asked 3 different servers and no one brought us straws. Finally my girls mom had to get up and walk up to the kitchen to ask someone for them and that's how we get them. When we finally get our food my girls meatloaf is raw and cold. We send it back and ask to have her dish remade and left to be cooked a little longer than it should. My girls mom and I are now done eating and we are still waiting for her food. They come with her "fresh made meatloaf" and this thing is still raw and cold in the middle as if they just warmed up a prefrozen loaf in the microwave and put it on a hot plate. Horrible service and food. Never again at this location or probably even this franchise again based on this service and food. It just seemed so odd that they made us(latinos) wait and the people that they sat down before me (skipping me) were white. And then no one else seemed to get bad food and service but us. Never again...
Read moreI didn't take any pictures this time, so I'll be wordy. My husband and I went for breakfast, as we usually do. The sourdough French toast is my favorite. I also love the cheesy grits, hash browns. We always get the bacon, as we don't prefer the basic ham or sausage. (You can't go wrong with bacon) Their apple juice is a good choice. Their chocolate milk is fat-free, tru moo. We love all of the sides. Try the apples. It's like eating the inside of an apple pie. They have build-your-own-meal options, or you can choose from predetermined selections. Lunch is served sometime after 10 or 11, I believe breakfast is all day. I don't think we have ever been for dinner. All of their meals are homemade/ old-fashioned style. This is the kind of place where you would get country fried steak or a meatloaf. The restaurant is located inside an Old Time Country store, where you can shop while waiting for your party to be seated. They will text you when your table is ready, as well as announce it over the intercom. If the store is too crowded, you can sit outside on the long porch in one of the rocking chairs. The restaurant is always full, and sometimes, there is a long wait. Still, though, they are quick to clear tables and get you in ASAP. Just plan on a 30-minute wait, and you will be happy when/if it is shorter. We went on a Monday morning and waited maybe 5 minutes. Usually we go on the weekends and wait 30 minutes. But you never know. The restaurant itself is full of country signage and memorabilia from back in the day. With chunky wooden tables and floors and a giant fireplace, it is like you just walked into the old west. Even the store sells old-fashioned candies that are hard to find in other places. Usually the staff is very friendly and personable like you would expect in a small town. I gave a four-star on this one only because I feel like the service from our wait staff was just average. Usually, even when busy, they are more... just more. This time felt like 'they did their job'. They did nothing wrong, but I could have gotten that service from anywhere. Still, I highly recommend this place. My husband and I have noticed that the quality of food/service at most restaurants has gone downhill in recent years. We went to check this one out to see if it still holds up, and it does. This one still makes our list of places to continue going. Good job...
Read moreWe were able to add ourselves to the waitlist using the Cracker Barrel app. Once we arrived after a 20 min drive, we checked in with the host and eventually was seated within 15-20 mins. It was a Sunday so it was definitely very busy and noisy but that's to be expected.
Our server was Chi N. The service was awful. She took our drink order, came back within maybe 3 minutes and asked if we were ready to order. We had barely had a chance to look at the menu. I asked for more time and she stood there waiting for us until we gave her our orders. Our food was good. I got the fried catfish with 3 sides and my husband got the new chicken tenders. We both enjoyed our meals.
Only a few minutes after we received our food, Chi came back and put our check on the table. She had closed our tab. I had actually wanted to order dessert. I'm sure they would have been able to add it on but I'm appalled that the server would just give us our bill without even coming back to ask us if there was anything else we wanted to add to our order or if we wanted dessert. Mind you, she pointed out after we gave her our order that they have a $6 take-home meal deal. I get that we visited on a Sunday and it was a packed restaurant but this is unprofessional.
During our visit, there was another family seated right next to us and she had continuously checked in with them which she did not do with us at all. I had to pull another server to ask for a refill on my drink because she did not bother to check at all. Chi came back with our drinks a few minutes after I asked for a refill and I politely asked if I can take it to-go because at that point I had already finished eating and paid the bill. She came back with the to-go cup and told me that they charge for to-go but she will give it to me this time.
I've never been treated this poorly by a server before. Unfortunately I really enjoy eating at Cracker Barrel so I will be back but I will respectfully ask for different server if seated in her section...
