Black Bear Antiques — Attraction in Murphy

I had a bathroom emergency...and desperately needed to use the restroom. I had my arms full off several items to purchase...walked quickly to the counter...and asked if I could please use the restroom despite their sign that said "Due to Covid19 concerns...no public restroom." Now...let me first say...that NOT A SINGLE EMPLOYEE WAS WEARING A MASK...but I WAS wearing a mask...as were my shopping partners. All the employees were all huddled together at the counter chatting...not a mask in sight. So...I set down my items to purchase and asked to please use the restroom...and showed her that I had Clorox wipes and a small can of Lysol sanitizer in my purse to clean up after myself safely. She said "Oh...the restrooms are out of order...the plumbing doesn't work...you can go to Ingles" You don't put a sign up that says restrooms are closed due to Covid19 if the plumbing is broken. It's BS! So...I ran to find my shopping mates...to tell them I needed to leave urgently...and what do I hear? A TOILET FLUSHING! Then an employee came out if the bathroom. You don't catch Coronavirus from your butt y'all...you catch it from your nose and mouth...and as I mentioned before...NOT ONE EMPLOYEE WAS WEARING A MASK! Not even one! You lost several hundred dollars in sales because we all sat down our items and...

Very disappointed in this place. Bought a clock (that was working), got it home and they had removed the battery. I know it was running because I would not buy one that was not. When I was at the checkout the woman stepped aside to 'do something' while she had the clock. I wondered what she was doing. I went back he next day and asked if they removed batteries. One of the cashiers said 'Yes, they are the dealers batteries'. I asked to speak with the manager and he had them 'look' for the battery in the drawer... it was not to be found. The owner called the woman and asked her if she took the battery out and she said No. He then said 'he' wouldn't take the battery out. It's an old clock and I'm having trouble finding the battery as there are no markings identifying which battery to use.. no doc online could be found. Lesson learned.. I won't be going back. And if you do buy anything with a battery.. make sure it's still there after you pay for it. Kind of sleazy to take batteries out. The clock worked...

I first came in here after closing on a new house. I needed dining items. I walked through with my husband and then returned two days later with a friend and found 2 china cabinets, a deacon's bench, a sofa table, small dresser, a sideboard and some fiesta ware. I refinished the 2 china cabinets and the sideboard and love how they look. I went back in this week and bought an oak cabinet for the bathroom. The first purchase came to less than buying the china cabinet at the furniture store beside them. One hutch is in our kitchen and the other display all my figurines. Both were in great shape and well worth the money. The staff was helpful in taking the tags from me and helping me to keep my hands free.
