Escapology Escape Room National Harbor — Attraction in Oxon Hill

If I could give this place no stars I would. For starters we start the game and all the doors in the room were already unlocked. They did not reset the room before we started. Then after ten minutes of us trying to get their attention we have someone from our party go out to tell them. The staff member tells all of us to leave the room so they can reset it and then didn’t give us our time back. We go back in and continue the game but when we request a clue they clues would not populate on the screen. This happened at least 10 times during the hour game. When we get to the end we had to complete a task in a certain sequence which we did it still would not complete as if we weren’t doing it correctly. The staff member can back in and ask us if we did it the correct way which we stated we did at least 5 times. When we finished we requested to speak to a manager and the young staff members decided this was the best time for them to be playing around. They decided to lock him out of the office and were laughing at him while we had serious concerns. The manager on duty said she would let the owner know and he would be in contact on Monday. The manager never called so we had to call today. The owner lied stating he watched the video and said he did not see anybody leave the room and lied about the clue populating. He had no care or concern for our experience and did not offer any type of resolution. The sad part is we have frequented this place several times and have brought many people to this establishment and will be making sure we let everyone know not to go back there. Unfortunately this is what happends when a corporation takes over something that should be run by enthusiasts. We did Mansion Murder. The puzzles were decent but were let down by the execution. Many of the clues were so worn they were virtually unreadable, even by our twenty year olds with a flashlight. One puzzle was broken and we had to fish the useful part out of its housing. At 50 minutes we had a couple of clues left to solve so we asked for our first hint. We got no response. We asked again and got a clue for a puzzle already solved. Asked again and got another clue for a puzzle already solved. Asked again and finally got a usefule clue, but the related puzzle disappeared off the screen and we were unable to get it to come back. So we basically wasted at least the last 10 minutes. When we mentioned this to the person who let us out of the room she said that it wasnt her responding to our clues or monitoring our room. No apology. We tried to talk to the person on the desk and they just picked up the phone and did not acknowledge us. I don't blame the staff, they were clearly overly busy on a Saturday and I would say they were understaffed.

We have done most rooms in the DC area and this was by far the most expensive and least value for money. Won't be going back here. Our recomendation is to stick to the well rated rooms in Herndon and Falls Church which are a lot cheaper, better maintained and more...

One of the best escape rooms I’ve been to, if the rooms actually work. We did 2, and the first one went amazing with Prase as our game master. We rebooked another room for a few days later before leaving because of the discount they offer, however that was a HUGE mistake. The 2nd room was a complete waste of money and I’m still livid the next day bc it was so bad, and they didn’t even apologize for any of the issues afterwards. We didn’t even see our game master after, it was different people. Every puzzle didn’t work, THE END PUZZLE/CLUE was unlocked and we saw it at the VERY START of the game before even doing anything once the countdown started and the lights turned on, a smoke machine didn’t kick on when it was suppose to leaving us confused about where lasers were, a small RC train that was suppose to turn on and move out of hiding to show us the clues didn’t work so we didn’t get the clue required and stood around for a WHILE wondering what to do next bc of it (the game master didn’t seem to be on top of it and we had to actually say out loud that it didn’t work), basically the entire room was either broken or executed extremely poorly. Absolute waste of our time and money. We’ve been to SO MANY escape rooms all over, so this wasn’t an issue of us not understanding how to do one.
