HL Asian Market — Attraction in Siesta Key

I love HL, have been going since they opened and have been watching them grow ever since! It's a great store with so many quality products you can't find anywhere else! However I was really disappointed in my most recent trip, I was ready to check out when I noticed a young girl walk in and get on the register ready to check people out. She could not have been more than 13 years old at most. It's summer vacation and summer camps are expensive I get it, bring the kids to work cool. Growing up in an Asian family myself I always used to "work" at my families business during summer vacation, like stocking, bagging, etc. But this young girl rang in ALCOHOL for me. Talk about illegal. I work in the service industry and I think it's common sense that minors can not TOUCH, SELL, OR ID people for alcohol, and she did all 3. I was shocked. When I tried to ask an employee for a manager there was a big language barrier and I couldn't tell if they were saying no they don't understand, or no there was no manager on duty. I have also found no contact information for HL at all beyond a phone number so hence why I am writing this review. I genuinely have no idea if a customer can get in trouble for letting a minor sell them alcohol, but be careful everybody! I really do love this store but I'd be lying if I said this didn't put a really bad taste...

7/02/25 was me and l my husband's first time going to this market. We were very impressed with the selection. They had everything from Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, and many other ethnic foods. Everything was stocked well a customer service was great. I am 39. I'm a three weeks pregnant and I was having some cravings for things and it definitely hit the spot. We found some things that we really love. Prices were reasonable considering I'm sure it all has to be important. The food was very healthy and appetizing and the amount of money that we spent and what we got, we would've spent double that at Walmart and got crap food. If you're thinking about going there, I would go check it out. There's something there for everybody. The seafood market is fresh people genuinely seem like they want to be there and there. It's very clean. We will definitely be back to try more things overall. I'm really glad we stopped in. We will definitely be telling our friends and family about this and eating more because it's healthy fresh and is all in all just a great place thank you to everybody that works there and that has made it the place that it is...
