Huddys Escape — Attraction in Gainesville

We did the Jacob’s Nightmare room at the new Gainesville location. The theming was great, there were unexpected jump scares, and our game started on time. Our GM Frank was the perfect amount of help, he gave us a hint in the right direction when we needed one, but he never outright told us what to do, so the puzzles never became frustrating or felt unsolvable. What was also great was that he was attentive to us, so when we asked for a hint, he was actually paying attention enough to be able to provide it (most escape rooms we have done usually have a delay for when you get help, which adds to how much time it takes to solve the room; in some cases the wait can be very significant, so the fact that there was enough staff to adequately assist the room was a nice change). The room and puzzles were in excellent condition, with nothing being broken or misleading. And perhaps the most important part: THE ROOM WAS RESET PROPERLY! If you’ve ever done an escape room before, you know that if the room is not set up properly, the room becomes unsolvable because many puzzles will directly lead to the next one. We have done Escapology in Celebration Pointe twice, and both times the room was not reset properly, which completely ruined the experience for us (plus, we never received a discount or apologies for the issues either). There were some unique elements to the game that made it different than others which we liked. Everything was clean and looked well kept. We did a “horror” kind (at the request our young teens). Unfortunately they were a bit too scared. There were opportunities to tone down the “horror” but the game master did not make that happen. While it was our choice to go into a horror game, there were ways to tone it down and that was the difference of what could have turned this back to a more enjoyable experience for the young girls rather than them wanting to be done part way through. Additionally we had some issues with our hints (asking for one related to an item and getting a hint but it not being for that item, or the item not being in the right position from the start before we walked in but getting hints as though it was right). Huddys Escape was so fun! Stopped in while visiting friends for the holidays. It was much more affordable than other escape rooms I’ve been to around Gainesville and definitely delivered more of an experience than I imagined. We did Jacob’s Nightmare and it was meticulously well-crafted and thought out. Definitely a bit scary and I was a little creeped out at first but nothing that made me actually uncomfortable. Def satanic vibes so don’t take your grandma or anything. Frank was great and super helpful when we needed a clue! I’d definitely recommend this place to any escape room...
