Petco — Local services in Gainesville

We have a beautiful Collie who is also half Great Pyrenees. Because she is a mixed breed, her fur is a golden blonde color, along with Snow White.. Or should I say WAS. We took her to get a bath and a trim (on her legs and behind) as we've done many times before. She looked beautiful as always and ready to go, but for some reason the groomer said she wasn't done yet. We went to buy some dog treats and toys while we waited, and when we came back to get her from the grooming area, we noticed her beautiful coat was nearly GONE! The only fluffy part left was her head!!! Which no longer matched her body. Her collie coat had been cut off! In winter, no less!! And on top of that, her fur was chopped off so thin, that her undercoat is now the outer layer, which is grey, and now she has random grey patches all over her body (instead of the white from her collie coat), which is now gone. The white full collie collar that has always been around her neck, is gone! All that's left is what's around her face, barely. When we saw her we were in shock, and ran over to the window as fast as we could to stop the groomer, but it was too late. My mom burst into tears and cried for hours, we all cried. Everyone has always said what a beautiful dog we have, and this groomer took it upon herself to shave off our dog's beautiful coat. Her whole shape is uneven now and she's very cold and depressed. We are all still exasperated and deeply upset about this. If it weren't for her face and tail, we wouldn't even recognize our own dog. Her coat may never be the same, she may never get her gold and white fur back the way it was. It's still so shocking. A dog with a double coat is NEVER to be shaved/have their outer coat cut off! We entrusted our beloved pet with the groomer and now her beautiful...

Very very very disappointed. It is hard to say who all is the problem because practically no one wears a name tag. This was my third and final visit to this location. Something has gone wrong everytime we have been here. The best employee that works there was a cute small nerdy white woman with curly black hair and glasses. She helped us get our betta, neon tetra, shrimp, and snails. She talked to us the entire time we were there about her betta and she was just a sweetheart. I wish I knew her name. The man who couldn’t figure out how to check us out today was Tracy, he asked us to go find an employee to check us out since he couldn’t… yikes. The employee that ended up checking us out today was Rebecca, she was very apologetic and did her job efficiently and she tested our water for us. There is a shorter woman who is VERY loud who works there which I think is the main problem. I think she is a manager by how she bosses everyone around, but does no work at the same time. She has yelled at my boyfriend before to get his attention, and she is just very short tempered. We will not be back, we are headed to pet smart now to get some neon tetra.

UPDATE: I had to get a water softener and pet smart didn’t have what I was looking for so I had to come here. I unfortunately met the general manager, Alexis. She approached me as I was walking out of the store to talk about the review I left. She unfortunately didn’t say sorry, or even seem sorry. She was talking to me like she had to and didn’t want to. Almost like when your mom makes you apologize to your siblings, you don’t mean it, and whatever you did you’re gonna do again. Atleast I got the name of the best employee that works there, Mya. So I went to Petco to get my border collie groomed. I'm not a very picky client... If some spots here and there are "shown" whatever.. As long as he looks presentable... But this is just absurd... 1. I pick up my pup... The "front clerk" inside the grooming office is a. sitting on a groom table... On her phone... Not giving two shi*s that I just walked in... And b. "Throwing" other groomers under the bus. First.. I get my dog. No papers how he did what they used nothing. I see HIM... He has two bows in HIS ears.. How in the hell.. Do you mix a girl and male dog apart... I was upset with this being HE is not a girl. Also, I check him over and an entire leg was not cut.. Hard blunt clipper cuts were on him like they cut to hard and got to skin ( not what I wanted ) and then they want to present him to me like this is acceptable.. I think not. I WILL NOT be coming back to this grooming at all. This is horrible. 70$ for this... I think not. Needless to say.. My dog is very very very well behaved and lifts his paws for you when you go to work on him and gives you kisses when you get near his face. He's been getting groomed since he was 8 months old. He cried when I dropped him off for a reason... Now...
