As of July 2020, I will have been a resident of the Persei for 4-years. When I first moved into the Persei, the area it felt like a quaint little community, both within the residence and the local community. When I first moved in, my only complaint was about the patio area because it was only dirt and every other area was beautifully decorated. However, I was told by management that they were thinking about doing something with the area that surrounded our patios to beautify them, which never happened, so I did it myself.
Moving forward, as the years passed, things have changed drastically! Starting with the good first, there are lots of restaurants and a few retail stores, all of which brought life to the neighborhood and there's even a small park and beach for the kids. Now, the not so good. The faces of the management team are forever changing, with some managers being more helpful than others, and policies seem to be enforced at random.
For instance, I've been told by a team member that my concern wasn't their job to handle as they stared out the window as if I was a nuisance. I've dealt with a noise issue for over 6-months and haven't been able to use my patio for almost 2-years. Why, might you ask? With regard to the patio, initially, it was because I have a neighbor that has a dog, who would jump over the partition that I put up and knock feroriously on my class at my dog. This would rile her up, which made me fearful to let her out on the patio. Since addressing this with the neighbor directly, he has put up fencing and we've resolved the issue. However, the noise from my neighbor above me is a daily nuisance given that they have a school-aged child making it sound like a jungle gym. I was informed by management that the building is not concrete and does not have soundproofing. In managements defense, I was offered a vacant apartment to use during the day, since the pandemic has me working from home. However, I don't think they recognized the significant inconvenience of having to pack my work, dog, and anything needed to go to a vacant apartment to work. It gets better, more recently, I've also been dealing with things being thrown down onto my patio, which again doesn't allow for me to use the space but trust me when I say that I continue to pay to face the pool and have a patio. The nail in the coffin for me tho, happened May 9th, when I got stuck in the elevator for almost 40 minutes, which caused me to miss an appointment that I was lucky to get due to the pandemic. On that day, the concierge contacted me to find out the specifics and apologize because she was away from the desk, when I initially called to notify someone that I was stuck. What bothered me most about this instance is that I've seen at least 3 emails about the elevator repair status. However, I didn't receive one email or phone call from management to follow-up or apologize for the inconvenience. I hope this sheds some light as to the culture that has been developing over the past few years. It's no longer a quaint family dynamic, its become more about big business, i.e. money and not the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to enjoy an early dinner Motherās Day/ birthday meal with family on the upstairs terrace. Ambience was great - beautiful setting and scenery. Unfortunately the service was subparāpossibly as a result of burnt out staff following the Motherās Day brunch rush. Took a while to get drinks despite what seemed like a less busy outside scene (not sure if the server had more tables inside but I doubt it). I did appreciate his patience given we had a small child with us. Also, there were some delays in bringing out our foodā we had ordered an extra side of Brussel sprouts which came at least 10 minutes after our mains and after we asked about it (Iām guessing they forgot). The pizza was requested to have crushed red pepper on the side but it was on it. We told our server and the manager came by and fixed it but that still took an additional 10-15 min. Food taste was great tasting when we got it. Flatbread was flavorful and hearty. Salads were substantial and packed a lot of flavor. Spaghetti and meatballs (beef) were delightful and quite tasty with a little spiceāwould order again! Brussel sprouts were crispy but somewhat oily with a spice as well that may be off putting to some. They also were out of various fish options, which was more annoying and frustrating as 1) our server should have known that initially (though understandable if didnāt know if they just ran out), and 2) surprising they wouldnāt prepare for it given the holidayāwe were eating early (before 6).
The manager was apologetic and tried to fix everything but it took a lot longer than anticipated. We also asked for more water but no one brought itāI figured someone forgot even aster the manager supposedly said we would get more.
The main reason for the 3-star review is because they didnāt compensate/accommodate us for the multiple errors (I probably could have asked but didnāt fee it was appropriate given our setting). I would have expected them to at least comp us the flatbread since the kitchen messed up and delayed our dinner and the Brussel sprouts since they came so long after our mains (suggesting they forgot about it). They did provide a desert with a candle (brownie sundae) for free which was nice but the brownie was dry so I would have been upset if I had paid for itā¦
Overall, I would consider returning for drinks/happy hour in a nice setting but paying full price for dinner is not worth it, especially given the numerous alternative options...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI never got to explore the shops since the parking is awful. In addition to all the people that park illegally along the street, the garages are very tight. I made the mistake of trying to park in the Trade Street garage, which said there were 5 spaces available. Once I got in there though, I saw no free spaces. Instead, I was trapped with people behind me beeping while I tried to make each dangerous right turn upward. Despite driving a compact car, turning each corner is VERY challenging since the people leaving use the same ramps and there isn't enough room to turn with the constant stream of cars coming down. Why was the garage not built with round corners if it was going to be that tight? After driving up five dangerous levels, I got to the top only to see another set of gates that you have to pay for in order to access the top floors. Huh? I've never seen anything like this before.....is that where the 5 spaces were? A car in front of me tried to get through the gate, but gave up. No wonder everyone was turning around and leaving in frustration. Several of the departing drivers were yelling to those of us ascending and warning about the lack of parking. Wow, this is a brand new community and yet there's nowhere to park. Instead of fooling with this place, go down 355 to the Rockville Town Center. The garages there are a lot bigger, there are more shops, and there is a lot less frustration. Pike & Rose seems like it could have been great, but it was designed poorly. It's not worth...
