Visited this place on a sunday afternoon after we had booked our party for the following weekend. Both my kids can rollerblade and took to the skates fairly well. The rink was smaller than another one we had visited the week before, but they had cool lights and a good DJ. Then came the birthday party the following saturday at 1:30pm and it was AWFUL.
Your guests arrive, get skates at one end of the rink, then in order to check in their coats or purses, parents and children have to go to the other end of the rink to the party area to check in. Adults cannot check in jackets for the kids. Ridiculous.
You have no place for your party guests to gather for the first hours, it's a free for all. So as the party mom, I was all over the place, greeting people, trying to make sure our guests had skates or skate mates, etc.
Then once the kids started skating it was worse. Of the 8 kids in our group, 6 of them were fairly good skaters (ages 7-11). But ALL of the kids were knocked down, one girls arm and hand were run over my skates by another teenage skater who continually told her it was her fault she was run over. They kids were cut off entirely too close, within inches by older kids skating really fast with headphones on. I talked to the manager, we told the skate guard, and nothing was done. The skate guard never blew the whistle, never checked on kids that were knocked down and never spoke to anyone about railroading or running over smaller kids.
This place is NOT family friendly. No consideration is given to those kids that are learning to skate. The faster skates cut them off, push kids out of their way, grab little kids shirt to keep themselves from falling instead of watching out for younger kids.
To top it off, during our hour of table time, they set up the pizza, bring the kids down, they eat, then they turn them loose on the floor again. Then 10 min later, call them back for cake. Then they leave again... I asked if we could get them back to open presents and they said "no, we only call them down twice." I had 25 minutes of table time left, so I went out on the floor gathered the kids myself so we could open my daughters presents. Just horribly organized.
So I basically spent just $215 for a party for 8 kids, and all they remember is getting knocked down, hurt and pushed around for 3 hours. My daughter said she wants to skate again, but she doesn't want to...
ย ย ย Read moreTook my 11 yo nephew here. He has his own quad skates but wanted to try blades so he paid $5 of his own money for a skate rental. Had the skates all of ten minutes before asking for different skates or a refund due the slates being in such bad shape they were unwearable. They are like these old leather hockey skates that look like theyre as old as skate zone (50 yrs ๐). Falling apart at every seem, lining ripping out, edges completely frayed. The rental counter staff said they were all like that so no point switching them out. They had ZERO ankle support which is pivotal with roller blades. Manager said โyou paid for a skate rental and you rented skates. No refund.โ When you are providing a service and charging money for it there is a certain expectation of quality and these skates fell far below the bare minimum of that quality standard because they were literally impossible to properly skate in. Every other staff member besides the manager was actually amazing, but unfortunately it just wasnโt enough to make up for all the other problems. There were also a ton of people, people skating WAY to fast/aggressively that werenโt being corrected, and only 1 referee for about 80 people. Unattended toddlers that were tripping people and every drink in the vending machine was $3 which is just insane in and of itself. It may not be THE worst skating rink but its certainly the worst one Ive ever been to. Try Wheels in Odenton, much better. Thats where Ill be next time.
Edit to reply to owner: it was 730 when i asked for new skates and 740 when i asked for refund. The session started at 7 pm that night and i would have been more than happy to provide a reciept to show when i purchased but you did not ask to see one. Even assuming i had gotten there at 7, which i didnt i got there at 715, the time it takes to get the skates, put them on, adjust them, ask for different skates, ask for a manger, wait on the manager, etc it should have been the assumption of any reasonable person that the skates had not been used very long before determining they were unusable. 40 minutes into a 3 hour session to be on the generous side is less than one quarter of the session. I showed you how the liner was ripping out of the skates and how flimsy the ankle was. Theres no defense for the subpar customer seevice, and the rollerblades you provide are unequivocally of the...
ย ย ย Read moreI visited twice. Once was in the summer last year and I was looking for something for the kids to do. Well, the kids (ages 2 and 6) loved it and my niece (23). They had shoe sizes for everyone. The price was reasonable. They opened for a specific time. They skated for 2 out of the 3 hour span. My 6 year old enjoyed it so much she asked for her party to be there. So, we had a party there 3 days ago. We got the middle level package. It came with 2 pizzas, favors, popcorn, nachos, veggie tray, and drinks for 10 kids. I ordered an extra pizza and 2 wings platter for the parents. We brought our own cake and fruit tray. We were given a party host (Brooke) and she was awesome. They ask for you to arrive 30 minutes before the party. At that time you can check in and get your skates. Then you go straight to the trajectory table to eat and sing happy birthday. You have the table area for 90 minutes which was more than enough time. They were allowed to skate for another 1 hour and 30 minutes. Then they went to arcade for a half hour. The DJ played the birthday girl's favorite song and gave her a couple shout outs which made her feel special. Area of improvements: I believe the assistant bars should have been free like they were in the summer or at least for parties. You have to rent each one now. The pizzas were bland. They need some flavor or something. You only tasted salt. Party area should have been private. You had tables next to the party area that people were just sitting and hanging out. At times their crowds were mixing with our party and it was too much. They need to move the common sitting area away from the party area for privacy. After all, you paid for a...
