Dealing with Greg, the Manager from The Hostel in the Tenton village was by far the worst customer service i have ever received. I booked a four bed private room in December 2018 for the dates February 8-12, 2019. today, the engine of my vehicle died and found out that i will need to either buy a new engine and perform an engine swap or rebuild the existing engine. There is no possible way for me to complete either of these before Thursday (today is Tuesday). I called Greg and explained the situation, stating that my vehicle has broken down, and there will be no way for my party and myself to get down to jackson. I booked over the phone and was never sent a confirmation email stating that there were specific cancelation policies in place for cancellations within a few days of the booking. Greg told me that i would loose 50% of the booking ( the deposit) I asked him if they rebook the room, could they give me a full refund? Greg told me yes. I then told him i would be willing to use the deposit for a later date. I decided i would do some research on potentially buying or renting a car specifically to travel to Jackson Hole from Vancouver, Canada and i would call him back. I took some time to think about it, and i decided financially, it would be better to cancel the trip. I called back and someone other than Greg, the manager answered. The employee told me that getting a full refund would be impossible and i would only be able to receive 50 percent back. I asked to speak to the manager and the employee told me that the manager had stepped out of the room. I then asked to be called back when Greg came back. He then replied " yea maybe" surprised, i asked him if Greg was still in the office, and he told me "yes, but he does not want to speak to you". i was surprised on how the situation was unfolding. Only when i raised my voice, Greg came back on the phone. I asked Greg if he was pretending to be out of the office and he told me yes. greg told me " i don't want to talk to you, im busy, i have been working for 14 hours." i explained to him that i was not properly informed about the cancellation policy. I booked over the phone, and there is no information explaining the cancelation policy on the website. The cancellation policy is only visible when booking is completed online, not over the phone. Greg said he had important business to attend to and had no time to deal with me. I will be reporting this to visa and will most definitely be disputing the charge to my card. I record every single phone call through a 3rd party app on my Iphone. This whole conversation will be sent to my credit card when disputing the charge. The service i received today was unprofessional and some of the worst i have ever received. I will not be staying here and would urge anyone to stay anywhere else...
Read moreI will admit, I was not looking forward to staying at a hostel during my time in Jackson Hole. However, this place FAR EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS. I have travelled around the world and the hotel prices in Jackson Hole are exorbitant, to say the least. So, when my only financially sound option for a wedding was The Hostel, I was not thrilled. However, when I arrived, I was immediately impressed with our stay. ||We booked the "King Room with Private Bathroom” for four nights in August 2024. All the rooms were updated this past Spring (2024) and you could tell. The bed was comfortable, the room was massive (good since we had two large roller suitcases), new A/C unit, and there were some shelves to place our packing cubes (since there is no wardrobe or drawers). The bathroom was completely un-noteworthy (did not ventilate well?/at all) and to be honest, I wish they renovated it to not look like any other campsite shower/bathroom. ||The front desk let me borrow a hair dryer, hangers, and travel adaptor for our stay, which was very kind. They were readily available to answer any questions about what to do in the surrounding area. During downtime in the evening (as most restaurants stop serving food after 9pm) we used the table tennis, billiards, and shuffleboard. ||A clean, centrally located spot in the middle of Teton Village, that is easily the most affordable in the area, I would definitely stay here on our next visit. The only thing to note, which may bother some particular guests, are the room windows. Yes, you only have one, and yes, it is quite small. It faces the hallway, but we were on a side that was not trafficked at all (I think I counted one person pass our door for our entire 4 night stay). ||Tips:|The shape of the building means that none of the room windows have any views whatsoever. The rooms "mountain-side" face a larger building that blocks views and any sort of daylight (this is where we stayed). The rooms opposite "mountain-side" did not face any sort of building or car park, and seemed to just face trees, something I would request for next time. Avoid any room on the ground floor, as that is heavily trafficked by people walking around...

Location: Close to Grand Teton national park. It is 50 min drive from Jenny lake. There are a few restaurants in the Teton village. There are more options if you drive 20 min to Jackson.
Amenities: The interior of the room feels like a historical rustic cabin. It is very different from other hotels, but I just see this as a unique experience as if I'm living in a historical cabin from the 1800s. We got an individual room with king sized bed. There is private bathroom inside the room (sink, toilet and standup shower). The room and bathroom are both very small, but we have enough space to fit all our bags so it's mostly okay. I read a review saying the towel is very small. The towel in my room is the normal size towel. I read another review complaining about no shampoo. You can actually get shampoo for free from the lobby. There is bar soap in the bathroom. Even though there is no hair dryer in the room, you can borrow one from the front desk for free (while supplies last). There is no coffee machine, microwave nor fridge in the room. However, you can use the microwave and fridge in the lobby. They also have coffee, tea and hot water in the lobby. No elevator in the hotel. If you have heavy or too many luggages, consider staying at lower floors. No breakfast. There is a restaurant called Mangy moose (2 min walk) that serves breakfast for about $10 -$15. Lobby is not open 24/7, you can check their website for lobby opening hours and latest check in time.
Staff: the staff who helped us checking in is very friendly. He gave us info about road closures, lots of suggestions about what to do in Grand Teton and restaurants...
