As an older traveler and Veteran among other things I get to many places with my wife now that kids are out of the house and grown-up. And as a Sports Official and High School Administrator I try to give every place we eat or stay at - a fair shake. Accessibility, courtesy, food services, customer service, fluidity, flexibility and adaptability and such. And yes the SPA. As a matter of fact I try to write a review on just about every one I use. Colorado, California, Hawaii, Nevada (Las Vegas) and many more have been used and reviewed on line somewhere by me.
I like to meet the people running the SPA, walk through the facility, check out the lockers, showers, wet & dry saunas, the hot tubs or Jacuzzi area, rest area, bathrooms and evaluate the amenities provided for the guest. In line with this is the overall cleanliness & upkeep and the attention the SPA Team puts into the place.
Snake River Lodge Spa resulted in the following evaluation both pro & con:
Women's attendant Stacey very helpful and customer oriented (first night as we were late getting in due to Airline Failures) Facility was very nice looking Well organized I.E. the layout was excellent Seemed well kept as far as towels, lockers etc. As we were later in the evening all the available heath items were working But only having a few minutes I just briefly used the SPA and planned to come back 1st thing in the morning reported to be open and 08:00 AM
The next morning waiting for a great time in the SPA - that I was going to use every day there I found the following:
a. No one was there to open the SPA on time -
This was a disheartening issue for me as I usually enjoy this part of my trips more than any other when on the vacation or road trips with my wife. She gambles or shops or sight sees...but I enjoy the use of a good sauna over everything else.
I was disappointed here with the SPA - and DID NOT go back which was a let down.
I am sure this facility may more times than not be in top notch shape and work as advertised but on this occasion it was an unfortunate disappointment. And when you add that, getting in late with no real consideration of an unavoidable airline discrepancy with the fact that the cost of a room 1/3rd the size of a normal Hotel room is about 3 times the cost for other places you have stayed similar to this for nothing more than nostalgia's sake, it was troubling. It just felt like we were not that important there.
And you got that sinking feeling in your stomach that "Wow we cold have done better" or more to the point "Snake River Lodge" could have and "SHOULD have" - done better.
I would like to give them another chance but will most likely decide otherwise in the future.

Do Not Stay At This Resort. They false advertise the rooms, the staff are rude and insulting, and their cancellation policy is ridiculous. Let’s go into more detail: -The rooms are complete false advertising, we booked the deluxe king. What we got was a 200 sqft room with zero view. Literally a brown wall of the other wing of the hotel. Reading the fine print on the booking confirmation it says “you will either get a deluxe king room with fireplace and view or the resorts smallest room with obstructed view”. Give me a break, that’s borderline lying and extremely frustrating. -Starting with the staff, as a whole they were the rudest, cold, most chauvinistic group of employees I have ever met. Checking in we asked the normal questions about places to eat, what was open, etc and the reply was not sure. Did they give us directions to our room? No. Map to our room? No. Ask to help with bags at all? No. Not a great first impression.once we figured out a place to eat, we returned in the evening and decided to have a drink at the bar. We proceeded to wait 15 minutes in line behind one young gal who was having a conversation with the bartender. Just a few snips of the conversation we heard were the following. “What’s a pretty girl doing all by yourself, need someone to keep you company?” “Oh your part of the birthday group that was here earlier? The waitresses from earlier told me I shouldn’t serve you because you tip like crap” “Don’t worry about the people behind you, they can be patient”. Did he ever acknowledge us once, no. -On to the cancellation policy it is the most asinine policy I have ever heard. 21 day cancellation policy, no exceptions. We were visiting during the fall to winter transition lull (first week of October). We were in route the day before we were set to check into the resort and our plans had to change for personal reasons. We tried calling multiple times but no answer from the front desk (let’s go back to the customer service). We arrived to an empty parking lot, walked in to check in and informed her we would be checking out a day early and we were sorry, she said “okay”. I asked if we would be reimbursed and she said no, your room will just sit empty and informed us the policy. I asked to talk to a manager. They were even more rude and dismissive, stating we should’ve planned better. Umm, excuse me?
Location would be hard to beat during the winter months, but the customer service will drag it down every time. I would rather stay in Jackson and drive out to Teton everyday to hit the slopes than stay here again. Reading recent comments we are not the only ones experiencing this, maybe if they lose all business something...
Read moreBig yikes. I got recommendations for this hotel and we were in the area for a few days, so we booked it. I don’t think I would recommend this to anybody and I myself would not return. This hotel is very pricy for what it offers, and I think it is worth maybe half of what we paid.
As noted from other reviews, decor is dated circa 1990s, and they lean heavily into the rustic decor. We knew this going into the hotel, but if you’re expecting sleek and modern this is not for you.
Cons: Rooms are tiny. As if there’s a budget on space. I could understand if space were an issue, but it’s not. Our room fit a bed and tv and not much else. We did not enjoy our rather disappointing view of another building and the pool.
Parking: if you get there at night, parking isn’t exactly laid out for you. You need to circle and enter a specific area to park. Better signage would be helpful.
Mediocre staff. Most of the people we interacted with were not helpful and not super great at their jobs. Front desk got frustrated and snappy. And then there was the bartender. Super unhelpful, very bad at her job. We were waiting to ask her if food was still being served and she ignored us until a new party of people had to let her know we were waiting.
No food past 10pm. If you arrive after this time, good luck. This is our fault for not researching. I would stay in Jackson Hole because there are more restaurants and therefore a higher chance something is open. But literally, nothing available after 10 at the hotel or surrounding restaurants. Hotel offers a small selection of microwaveable goods. Our overpriced microwave pizza tasted of disappointment and regret.
Like other reviews mentioned, I got the impression that breakfast was I included. when we checked in, they made it seem like the breakfast was free by saying that breakfast is served and that lunch and dinner are paid meals. I’m glad I did a little googling to see if it was included, and found out it isn’t, and is expensive. So it seems like the hotel purposely ropes you in. Way better options in Jackson Hole.
Pain to get to. GPS took us on a small road that is only open part of the year. Go on the main highway if you can. It’s scary driving in the dark on a narrow road.
My overall impression is that this hotel takes advantage of its location and how isolated it is and passes the buck onto its patrons. They seemed to rely heavily on additions like spa packages and the not so free breakfasts. Maybe in its heyday it would be worth it, but I feel like I was oversold on expectations that didn’t deliver. This was just a regular hotel disguising itself as a luxury hotel.
Pros: bell hop was super friendly. He was the only person who helped us out and was positive...
