Towson Mall is a paradigm of ineptitude, plagued by a plethora of issues that detract from the overall shopping experience. The most egregious problem is the perpetual malfunctioning of the escalators, which is not only inconvenient but also poses a significant safety hazard. Property owners have a duty to ensure that their premises, including escalators, are maintained in a safe and functional condition. Failure to do so can result in liability for any injuries or damages sustained by patrons. In fact, if you've been injured in an escalator accident due to poor maintenance or negligence, you may be able to pursue compensation for your damages. Furthermore, the mall's ambiance is lacking, with an apparent dearth of effort invested in maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. Some stores within the mall have also received poor reviews for their customer service, with issues ranging from unfriendly staff to inadequate assistance. For instance, the Apple Store in Towson Mall has been criticized for its poor customer service, with long wait times and unhelpful staff. Similarly, other stores like Francesca's and Macy's have also received negative reviews for their customer service and treatment of customers. The mall's layout and renovations have received some praise, with its bright and airy atmosphere being a notable improvement. However, the mall has been devastated by COVID, with many stores leaving, which is a significant drawback. Additionally, the food court seating is limited, and the mall's culture has changed, with some visitors expressing concerns about safety due to the presence of teenagers. To improve, the mall's management should prioritize maintaining its infrastructure, including the escalators, and focus on providing better customer service across its stores. By addressing these issues, Towson Mall can create a more enjoyable and safe shopping experience for...

I’ve been coming to this mall for years, but lately it’s been an absolute ordeal. Every single visit, at least half of the escalators are broken—literally non‑functional. And there are no stair alternatives. That means if you want to go up or down a level, you’re forced to wait in a long queue for the elevators.
Today, I was stuck in a line of about 10 people waiting for the center elevators after the escalators were shut off. The elevators barely make one trip every few minutes—everyone on each floor is moving at a snail’s pace. It took me over five minutes just to get down one level, and I was there during a supposedly “off-peak” afternoon.
It seems the management hasn’t maintained the escalators in ages. In fact, Yelp reviews even call it out:
“They can’t seem to bother to maintain it. The escalators are perpetually broken…”
It’s not just today—I’ve seen people stuck in elevators for half an hour in past visits (one post even mentions being “stuck for 2 hours”) . And the situation feels systemic: aging equipment, minimal upkeep, frustrated visitors.
To make matters worse, there are no signs warning you the escalators aren’t working until you’re standing in front of them. No barricades. One moment you’re expecting smooth navigation through a large mall; the next, you’re waiting in a cluster of strangers for an elevator that has no rhythm or reliability.
Bottom line: Towson Town Center may have good stores and restaurants, but its inaccessible layout and broken escalators turn every trip into a slog. If they won’t fix the escalators or add stairs, at least upgrade the elevators—or mood it right away. Until then, budget extra time and patience, especially if you’re with kids, older adults,...
