i went in to participate in the golden unicorn scavenger hunt with my older sister (sheās 21 and iām 15), unknowing that iād be treated terribly by the manager. the manager in question had curly dark hair and wore no name tag, likely hiding her name on purpose due to the way she treats customers. we found two cards and due to me being a minor i could not redeem mine, which is understandableā however the way this situation was handled is not.
iād like to note that we greeted the manager with all smiles and excitement even though sheād previously been rude to my family a week or so prior. this manager asked for my ID and upon figuring out i was minor, began to treat me as though iām the scum of the earth. she was rude in a way i can only compare to abby lee miller. there was no courtesy or respect when telling me i could not participate, only a tone so nasty i physically recoiled and became extremely uncomfortable and scared. she also did not scan my sisters card properly and very likely made up the value, giving us the lowest amount possible to spend. she left and me and my sister began talking near the registers when this manager came back up to us and very insincerely asked us āif we had a question?ā. she shouted this inquiry sarcastically and with purposeful rudeness.
my sister than asked (very kindly i might add), for clarification regarding the rules of this game. the manager then lied about the scavenger hunt being a ālotteryā. the tickets are couponsā not cash or lotto tickets. as the manager, she should know that. i should add that my sister works in retail and knows good customer service, which this certainly was not.
this being a holiday event i expected joy and cheer, not to be berated by a world market manager just because i didnāt know i couldnāt participate as a minor.
this store is sketchy with the scavenger hunt anyway and multiple times iāve seen staff hand the unicorn cards to their friends, other minors, and simply not follow the instructions of the game or follow the daily clue. iād recommend going to a different world market if youād like to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to go to World Market at the Avenue Viera when we lived in Melbourne, and loved it. I'm really not sure why it took me so long to visit this location at the Grove (maybe the traffic on I-75). But now there is no excuse not to visit now that the KRATE is open. There are new and exciting things happening in this area.
This particular store is spacious. I think the biggest draw for me has always been the international food and drink section. They have the Cadbury bars from the UK, and the Japanese KitKat flavors. There are imported beer, wine, and Spanish tapas. They have all kinds of snacks from various different countries. It's like a mini international grocery store. I know, it's more than just that. They have furnishings, dƩcor, kitchen gadgets, cookware, lighting, picture frames, and so much more. If you're mourning the closing of houseware stores like Pier One and Bed Bath & Beyond, then this is the place for you.
I don't live close by, and maybe that's a good thing. The Twang Beer Nuts "Cantina Mix" is way too addicting. Thankfully they only had one Japanese KitKat flavor (orange). The rest had already been sold. The website shows more items than what is actually at the store (which varies). This just means I'll have to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is about World Market and no specific store. I received a delivery of bottles of their soup I ordered online. I immediately noticed that the box was wet on the bottom. After bringing it in the house, I peeled away the wet area- 3 bottles were broken and glass and contents were all over the bottom. The rest of the bottles were intact. They were separated, wrapped in a piece of paper and a piece or two separating them- not nearly enough to keep them from moving around . I contacted customer service- asking for a credit to my credit card or replacement of the three bottles of the 8 ordered. I sent them multiple pics. The response I got was to send pictures and give them the SKU number of the product that I had already tossed in the garbage. Hearing nothing, I followed up with an email asking about the status of my ācaseā. Iāve received no further contact. World Market, a large business and number of stores, did not want to do anything about it. The items probably cost them less than half- for an $8 jar of soup! They are cheap and donāt care about their customers. I will not go back to such a...
