We had an opportunity to check out this place because it was recommended by some friends. The place it has a really cool vibe it's right on the water and a lot of live music and good energy. We sat down placed orders and received the pretzel appetizers which were really good! We ordered the pulled pork and a chicken sandwich. The pork was very dry and unseasoned. We also got some sweet potato fries that were very plain and didn't have any seasoning. We brought it up to the staff they checked on it but nothing happened. We asked for some barbecue sauce because our pork sandwiches came dry which we weren't quite expecting. After an extended time somebody came by and dropped off two containers of barbecue sauce. As we were enjoying the view we opened up some raspberries that were in our drink and noticed the mold. We brought it up to staff who said they were going to talk to the manager about it. After an extended time the waitress came back and said the manager removed the drink but he did not show up as we asked for. On our way out I decided to talk to the manager and express my concern about the quality of food and the mold in the fruit that we were given. He told us that he checks the fruit and that he's sorry. He explained that the waitress was new not sure what that had to do with anything. The conversation quickly became about all of his problems on why things the way or they were. over the next couple of minutes of talking to him. I was trying to expressing our frustration and concerns but the manager just kept saying he's sorry and didn't do anything. Well what do do??? Something is what to do. A lesson learned I will never get that $65 back nor will I ever go back to that place again. The biggest frustration was the lack of management to even remotely care about anything. I had to track them down as he stood at the end of the bar. I'm sure this is an isolated incident or not!! A lot of the fruit was bad after we saw it at the bar where the manager was at. I felt bad for the white staff who was given no direction or assistance or support from management and just left defend...
Read moreMy first (and last) time dining at Bonfire was nothing short of a disappointment. Our server, Kai, was the only saving grace for the experience we had. Our main course came out before our appetizer. They also gave me the wrong taco order. That was the least of our worries at that point. Upon taking my FIRST bite into a taco, I bit into something hard. After spitting the food into a napkin, I discovered a portion of a PLASTIC BREAD TIE. I brought it to the server’s attention immediately, to which he replied, “Let me get my manager.” I watched Kai go to his manager to tell him about the plastic in my taco, saw the manager look right at us, then proceed to talk more with Kai about remedying the situation. Instead of coming immediately to our table, the manager went on his phone after Kai walked away. Kai brings out another taco, which was fine. I proceed to eat my fresh taco and watched the manager WALK RIGHT BY OUR TABLE AND NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE US. Irritating, because I’ve been a server for nine years and my husband has managed a restaurant, so our first thought was, “Wouldn’t you, as a manager, be apologetic and at least acknowledge what just happened?” Apparently not Travis, the manager on duty. I asked Kai to send Travis to our table, because now I’m disgruntled. After over 10 minutes of waiting for Travis, he finally comes over (with an attitude) and is less than remorseful about the situation. He genuinely could give two craps less about his customers (as evidenced by several others who have had negative experiences with him.) Overall, would not recommend eating here. The food was mediocre at best and Travis does not have the empathy or the compassion to run...
Read moreCome for the view, stay for the food. Located on the River Walk in Historic Downtown Conway one is mere steps from the beautiful, scenic Waccama River. Noted as being “a smokin’ taqueria,” that simply means a Mexican restaurant specializing in tacos and burritos. Chef, Darren Smith, has masterfully crafted a delicious menu that combines southern barbeque with a Tex-Mex flair. Menu offers nearly a dozen tacos, smoked meats platters, burgers and sandwiches, salads, Southern sides and appetizers, craft cocktails, beer and wine “on-tap.” One can also enjoy daily Blue Plate Specials and brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Open floor plan offers a rustic, relaxing industrial feel with vaulted ceiling, galvanized metal wrapped bar and low wall around the padded booths in the middle and metal stools and chairs. Open porch offers a panoramic view of the walk and the water. If one is planning on staying any length of time the padded booths are highly recommended. Metal chairs are not comfortable. Decor is a mixture of burlap sacks, mounted animal heads and imaginative murals by local artist, Luke Horowitz. Our 2 meat combo was a choice of their pulled pork and 1/4 rack of rib, mac and cheese and Street Corn Chilled salad for our sides. Pulled pork was sweat with a slight vinegar tang and the ribs, dry rubbed, vinegar pepper basted and smoked, were tender and tasty. Mac was cheesy, Corn Chilled salad was a festive flavored grill-roasted, slightly charred sweet corn, with a creamy Mexican dressing and the always enjoyable slice of Texas Toast. Melanie was our server and she was friendly...
