To my family and friends, I would like to share my experience at the Fil-Am Asian Store in Cookeville yesterday. My husband and I, along with five friends, drove nearly two hours to try their renowned Halo-Halo, which I highly recommend. Upon arrival, with a big smile. I approached the owne. A fellow Filipino told her we had just arrived from Knoxville and were going to purchase Halo-Halo, but first, I requested to use the restroom. However, with a poker face, she informed me that they did not have a public bathroom, despite my knowledge that they did, as I had used it previously. She suggested I ask my husband. After waiting for a couple of minutes, nothing happened, so I decided to visit the adjacent Boba store to use their facilities. I purchased a Boba drink and, while walking towards our car, which was parked in front of the store, we heard a nasty voice and were confronted by the owner of Fil-Am Asian Store. ( his American)He rudely informed me that I was not allowed to enter his store due to the Boba drink I was holding, which I had purchased elsewhere. Furthermore, he stated that we could not sit on the chairs outside, as they were exclusively for his customers. His behavior was extremely rude and arrogant. He thinks he owned the store, his already high and mighty, Wow , leaving us both shocked and stunned. If I were a bad person, I would have entered the store, informed my friends of the situation, and left our items behind. I firmly believe in karma, and the phrase "what goes around" comes around.' God is watching. I was embarrassed in front of my friend who had moved here from California, and we ended up not having Halo-Halo at all. But our fun continued as we visited the Cummins Falls, which proved to be a delightful experience. Have a blessed...
Read moreIf you're searching for hard-to-find ramen or other specialty foods from countries like Korea, Vietnam, and the Philippines, this is the place to visit. They offer a wide selection of popular favorites such as Tteokbokki and Bulgogi marinades, and you'll likely discover new items along the way. The ramen selection is one of the most extensive available, and there's even a Boba counter for tea lovers.
Over the years, this store has expanded significantly from its original small location across town. While the organization of the aisles could be improved, with the space being a bit tight, the pricing more than compensates for these minor inconveniences. Despite offering one of the largest varieties of ramen in the area, the prices remain highly competitive.
Even if you're not in search of something specific, it's worth a visit—you never know what unique products you might stumble upon. Plus, the owners are exceptionally welcoming, and you’ll feel genuinely appreciated for...
Read moreThis place is fantastic! They have all sorts of things in here. It can be a bit crowded, but that's because of how much awesome stuff they have. The couple that runs this place are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, so ask them if you are looking for something in particular! (Try the Korean Corn Dogs. Amazing!) Their boba is very tasty, made right on the spot, and better than a few of the dedicated places in town. Not to mention the prices are very good for what they have. They often have a lot of the snacks that you find at anime stores but at a fair price....
