Read moreThis is not an "emergency" room, this is a check-in clinic. No emergency was given, I assume because we didn't have insurance and had to pay out of pocket. My partner's chest was in a lot of pain so I took them to the closest ER. When we arrived we were expected to fill out papers and pay up front before they would check us in. Meanwhile my partner is sitting there holding their chest having an attack, and I'm basically begging them to check us in. I wanted to discuss the billing process afterwards because my partner's life was more concerning. This was around midnight and the ER was empty. After raising immediate concern for my partner's health, they let us in to see the doctor.
The doctor's attempts to understand my partner's pain and his empathy towards the situation was completely non-existent. Like previous reviews here have stated, it was evident that the doctor had already made up his mind without actually considering the severity of the situation, even attempting to gaslight my partner into thinking the pain was all in their head. The doctor only checked my partner's blood pressure and was telling us to fill out papers before he would perform any further procedures. I was already in the process of filling the forms out. I asked the doctor if he thinks my partner is fine and he says, "no I didn't say they are fine but you should go to a hospital since we are not a hospital." I'm left confused.
All in all, while my partner was sitting there suffering the doctor was more concerned about getting paid first before anything. They left us waiting in the room until the front desk came in and asked us to pay the full 3 grand. I ended up leaving. They wouldn't discuss billing for the procedure unless I paid everything now, meanwhile who knows what's happening to my partner. I needed to get them help ASAP. This isn't an ER. As we exited the building the doctor was also leaving and in the parking lot mentioned again that they are not a hospital, at this point taunting us? I say to him, "I thought you were an emergency room?"

Read moreDr. Howsen Kwan was very offensive when diagnosing me. He came into the treatment room and stood there with his arms folded in a very defensive position. I explained my situation. He asked if I had a primary care. I explained that my doctor was currently vacationing out of the country but she did do a telehealth call with me. She instructed that I should go get a cortisone injection. This doctor started to say he does not do those types of injections in the ER..?? Are you kidding me. That is all they do in the ER. Then he tries to prescribe me with a full dose routine of oral antibiotics, I told him I have bad reactions to antibiotics and not an option. As a female - he should know that for my minor problem, you treat at the site. Not put a female on a full course of antibiotics as she is most likely going to get yeast infections. When I told him this he was like, yeah - so he knew. My doctor text me back that if he is refusing to do the local shot where the skin is irritated, then have him prescribe antibiotic cream. I ask him about that and he was okay with that.
Then he started to co.plain saying we'll if your doctor wants to tell me how to treat you then she should treat you. I told him that there is no need to get in his feelings with his ego and she is trying to help me.
I was pissed. He then sends in the nurse to take my blood to run lab tests. I told him no, I already had labs run 2 wks prior and I've had this skin. irritation for 3 weeks coming and going. The labs found nothing. I had already told this Dr. Howsen Kwan this earlier in the room.
I guess they were trying to make money from my insurance.
He has a fragile ego like a woman. He is condescending and rude. Does NOT offer the best prognosis for the patient, just wanted to give me anything. Thank goodness I have a physician that cares and advised me appropriately. I was able to get my shot at a different location.
