Mei Asian Cuisine — Restaurant in Dallas

I worked in the restaurant business over 15 years. I went to this restaurant tonight (7/26/25 8:30pm) and had a SHOCKING experience. My husband and I just wanted to go out for a relaxing evening close to home. This was our 1st time at this establishment. We walked in and the place had only one table of customers. The hostess asked us how many - we responded 2. She then told us to just sit anywhere. (Why even ask us how many if we were to seat ourselves) We order our drinks - 1 Coke & 1 Kirin beer. They brought a Kirin Light. We let the waitress know that we did not ask for a light beer. Her response “well we only have Kirin in light”. Ok .. so my husband drank it anyway and asked if there were any non-light beers and if so, he’d take one of those next round. I asked for a 2nd coke, the glass had a lot of ice at 1st so the cup had about a half cup of water with a bit of the coke that colored the water slightly. She returned with this “new/fresh coke” by just adding a top off of coke. Still had all of the water in the cup along with small bits of the left over ice. Also the table was covered in water and I asked for a paper cocktail napkin to keep the water from covering the table. She wiped the H2O up and never did give me something to help the issue. I did ask her for an actual fresh coke and it seemed to upset her. Next: We ordered 2 different rolls to start our meals and specified that one of them to absolutely not have the spicy mayo due to allergies. One roll came out very quickly, the 2nd came out 25 mins later. The 2nd roll that took 25 mins came out with -guess what- spicy mayo ALL over it. We waived for the waitress and she looked up at us and then went back to her conversation with the other waitresses. My husband had to get up from the table due to zero service and brought his plate to the bar area where they were congregated and showed them the mayo that was all over his roll. She then argued that he did not say no mayo. At this point she was at the table. I actually spoke up and said “yes ma’am he sure did ask for this to not be on there. People do not forget to tell restaurants about their allergies”. This is an end up in the ER allergy so it was not forgotten by us. He asked for the check so we could leave while she continued to argue and began to escalate the issue. She walked away and my husband asked her again for the check and he had to say it louder due to her being now across the restaurant and near the kitchen. She yelled “why are you raising your voice?” My husband replied “because you are across the room”. As we were signing our check she began yelling for us to “GET OUT, LEAVE NOW, GET OUT OF HERE!” As if it was us that had caused all of the issues. She seemed to be showing off in front of the younger waitresses. Wow! We were not only shocked at how bad the service was, but at this point we were so mad that we had to leave quickly before she escalated this to a point where we would have to say something back to her. She was cussing us as we were gathering our things and walking out of the door. This was by FAR in all of my 45 years of restaurants that I have EVER been treated like that. Ever. This purple bangs girl will for sure be the demise of this business. Not only will we never be back, we will be letting everyone we know about this experience. Shocking....

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mei Asian Cuisine, and I can’t say enough good things about this place! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm and friendly service that set the tone for a fantastic meal.

Let me start off by saying the food is phenomenal but the service was not the best even though the staff was polite. This was my first time here and when I walked in, I grabbed a catering menu to order. I was informed by the waitress or hostess that I could sit wherever I wanted to I sat in a booth and she gave me a regular menu. She then told me I could order in the front which took me by surprise because I was dining in and she never asked me if it was for here or to-go. I spent $45.46 ABs sat at my table waiting for my food. She bright it out in to-go containers but provided my with a glass of water. They never checked in with me again but continued to provide assistance to the other guests. I’m still in the restaurant eating and no one has stopped by to mumble a word.
