These tacos are as authentic as it gets..... I feel like I’m ordering tacos in Mexico when I eat here, and I grew up alongside Mexico on the border and of course spent a tremendous amount of time in Mexico, and tacos were my daily meal. These tacos here at La Banqueta are nothing less than the REAL DEAL.
I no longer live in Dallas, so I rarely eat at La Banqueta these days, but when I am in Dallas, I CERTAINLY go out of my way to eat there.. I haven’t tried any of the other locations, but I now see that there are many, and I look forward to trying those out too. I’ve only been to the one location near White Rock Lake attached to the convenient store, and that place is spot on when it comes to consistency, authenticity, friendly staff, and great prices — I have been there hundreds of times, and every single time the experience is exactly the same. To me, that fact goes a long way… Consistency is absolutely key.
I invariably order their al pastor....... I’m sure their entire menu is all fantastic, but their al pastor is what nourishes my street taco addiction and keeps me coming back time...
Read moreYou want authentic Mexican tacos? La Banqueta's are as good as it gets. There's no fancy gourmet fusion thing going on in this kitchen. If you want your bulgogi and kimchi tacos go elsewhere. Those tacos have their place, but you can't compare those restaurants to an authentic tacqueria like this.
La Banqueta's tacos are made with meat, grease, onion and cilantro. Al pastor, steak, head meat, chorizo, tripe-- they're all awesome at this place. There is a green salsa and a red salsa, both of which are muy picante, especially the green one. And they are both super tasty.
This place is a real dive. It's behind a gas station, and is connected to a convenience store inside. It's the grungy kind of taco joint you know is going to be really tasty when you walk in. The tacos are cheap. You've got to be pretty hungry to spend $10 in this place. The great tacos are the star here so don't be intimidated by the lousy decor or the fact that you're a gringo out of your element in this place. You want great authentic tacos for real cheap? This...
Read moreI just got in at 10:15pm and placed my order to dine in, they close at 11pm. SonI asked for the normal bottle of salsa they place outside and the girl at the counter told me the orders where only to go after the other lady said I could dine in. I been coming to this place since it opened in 2009 and their employee turnover is crazy. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. And I hope management reada this so they thell them not to run off clients 40 min before closing time.
Came again on 10/5/24....I placed my order and after I paid I asked for a cup with ice for my $4 Coke I bought and was not cold. The lady told me it was $0.25 so I said to add to my bill and said she had already closed it. I said I didn't ha e $0.25 on me and still didn't offer to give me a cup with ice for my hot drink I purchased here., seriously management/owner...educate your staff!! You are not going to go broke over a $0.25 cup....
