This salon came heavily recommended by a friend, and I'm really glad I went with it for my wedding hair/make-up and wedding party. Marissa at the salon was very accommodating of our large group (~14 people?) and even provided some snacks on the day of. Some people in our party were not on time and everyone there kindly made it work. I was able to get a hair and make-up trial without breaking the bank, too. In general, the cost was extremely favorable compared to having a HMUA team come to a hotel in San Francisco. The process was very similar to previous HMUA experiences I've had as a bridesmaid in weddings - the bride/bridesmaids provide inspiration hair and make-up pics prior to the day. I had slight edit requests for my makeup between the trial and the final day, which is normal, and on the day of my make-up ultimately turned out just how I wanted. For my hair trial, I asked for something that - in hindsight - didn't suit my hair length, and when I revealed that I wasn't in love with it, Marissa and my hairstylist offered to have me come back for an additional trial free of charge (even though this was my bad, really.) I didn't end up having a second trial, and I liked how my hair turned out on wedding day. For my bridesmaids, all of their make-up turned out nicely except for one, and she ended up re-doing hers to make the color choices of lipstick and blush match her complexion better (original make-up was a bit too brick warm/orange while she has very fair skin and cool-toned brown hair). In my experience, this happens at weddings often, where bridesmaids end up redoing some aspect of their makeup. With respect to hair, the custom hair was very skillfully executed for all, and included both sleek or whispy updos and very beautiful "Hollywood" waves. These held up a lot better than the blow-outs - I had two friends with longer hair who got their hair done here for my wedding and their hair looked somewhat flat within a few hours. However my friend who gets her blowouts here regularly has her hair waves last a long time, so I'm not sure what this has to do with. I think if getting hair done for a wedding, it's worth it to pay a little extra and do the custom hair. Overall, I'm really pleased with the experience and especially compared to the extreme SF prices nowadays, this place is a steal and was a really wonderful time. Special shoutout to Keilani who did my hair and make-up. She was an incredibly calming, sweet/thoughtful, and responsive presence throughout the process of my hair/makeup trials and on the day of the wedding. I really enjoyed her company. Most importantly for this review, she is a true artist and has wonderful intuition about color and shape, and is really good at enhancing whatever you have going for you....

I am so upset. I went to blo and had an appointment to get my hair done and it took Natalia 2.5 hours to do my hair. It's thick hair but if she would have taken the time instead of rushing. My curls didn't hold one bit. She re curled it and it still didn't hold. If she had kept the curling iron on my hair for longer then I'm sure my curls would have stayed. I am so upset my curls went flat immediately when I was at my family photo shoot. This was our first time getting photos done with my baby and my hair made me look so bad. It also made me rush and stress out and I forgot parts of my makeup, we were late to the pictures and the pictures look bad cuz my hair looks AWFUL!!!I also paid 75 dollars with yall cuz I tipped her well but I spent 75 dollars for 2 braids. I am so upset. The pictures were ruined! I need to be refunded for my hair and the pictures!!!! My baby was in the NICU for the first month of her life so this was our first family photo shoot. I cried when I saw the pictures!!! Here is a picture of my hair that was "curled"

UPDATE- I talked with the Owner Marissa and she didn’t care one bit that my hair was AWFUL for my pictures. I have had cancer twice , osteosarcoma bone cancer and I was even taking with Natalia who did my hair and told her my story of how much my leg was hurting, how I had a hard pregnancy and I was SO excited for the pictures because I have been through so much to just have my baby and to finally get pictures done with her for the first time breaks my heart that I will always look back on them and be so disappointed , that this hair salon ruined them. All my friends are asking why my hair looked so bad because I got it done but nope it looked like I rolled out of bed for the photo shoot . I am so embarrassed of the pictures. I kindly asked the owner Marissa to pay for my pictures and she tired to gilt trip me and say shes poor and the business isn’t doing well and her husband is a teacher. How awful is that and what kind of customer service!!?!! LOL I will NEVER come back and if you’re looking to get your hair done don’t come here!

My baby was in distress because she had to wait so long at Blo and pooped all over herself ruined her outfit, screamed for hours made me stress a lot and I forgot to do parts of my makeup because of this place!! How horrible and terrible!

UPDATE #3 - now the Owner Marissa is calling my personal cell phone arguing with me while I’m with my husband on his only day off and my baby is crying!!! Like what the actual hell. She claims I’m blackmailing her lol! This customer service is quite weird and creepy and this is NOT professional trying to now make me feel bad about myself to take the review down. This place is SO weird...

I have been coming here for about a year and have always had a great experience here. The monthly membership is a good investment if you get regular blowdries as it brings down the cost significantly and you get monthly perks too like head massages and braids etc.

Leo is literally a hair magician (I do not exaggerate) when it comes to structuring blowdried hair to fall perfectly and look flawless all day. Keilani is the sweetest and goes out of her way - she has often opened early and accommodated me at 7AM on Saturdays (I attach my picture with her work - look at the SHINE!). Casey is ridiculously fast and efficient I have never had such a fast blowout that looked so immaculate. My experience with Uriah was really good too, not everyone can manage thick or really textured hair but she’s an expert.

All stylists are sweet and go out of their way to give you flawless hair (eg multiple times they have pinned my curls for me so they lasted when I attended my event the next morning).

Out of curiosity I asked the Supercuts nearby for a price comparison and unlike Blo (where my membership credit covers everything), they charge separately for wash, blowout and curling iron use to give the Hollywood Curl look I like. Turns out Blo is significantly cheaper and a better experience too.

I’m so glad Marissa opened this place. They serve complimentary drinks and the vibe is so fun. I highly...

I have a disability that makes it hard to lift my arms up without fainting and was struggling trying to blow out my hair at home the night before my birthday weekend, when my husband suggested that I try finding a place to get my hair done. I googled and Blo Daly City was the closest place to me (and with the highest reviews). I got very lucky when I found an appointment last minute for the next morning! I decided to get my makeup done too, as I was celebrating my birthday with my husband at a fancy hotel over the ocean and wanted to feel good. My hair and makeup came out so pretty and made me feel happy and beautiful! To have something that is usually a struggle for me due to my medical issues turn into a relaxing and pampering experience instead made my day and weekend (I may or may not have worn the eye makeup for the whole weekend lol). I also really enjoyed chatting with Theana as she did my makeup-she made me feel so comfortable and was really nice! I found out they offer a membership for monthly blowouts too, which is very tempting. I say, if you want to feel happy, beautiful, get lots of compliments and have nice pictures you should definitely make an appointment here!
