For today's experience at the home Depot in Daly cities Westlake Shopping center location, the experience reminded me of going into a radio shack store toward the end of radio shack's life and talking to their salesman. When I went into the store I looked at the shelf where the product was supposed to be located. I didn't find any. So I searched every other surrounding shelf around it. Including behind all of the boxes. No product on any of the shelves with the required SKU and UPC matching the specs of the component that I was looking for. So I went over and asked the person in the electrical department to look up above for other boxes that were unopened of the component that I needed. The home Depot employee immediately tried to divert me to other options. When I stated that I didn't want those other options, the home Depot employee still tried to divert me to those other options. It took a moment for him to realize that I wasn't going to be moved off of my choice. He then looked on the shelf in the same location that I had looked at. He then tried to offer me other.more expensive components that didn't match the specifications that I required for the job. I repeated my explicit requirements for the component along with the SKU and had him look it up. He verified that there was no stock on the customer accessible shelves. But at the same time also seemed reluctant to actually go up high and look for more stock up above on the upper storage shelves that required the ladder to get to. After about 5 minutes of talking to the home Depot employee, he was finally convinced that I wasn't going to give up and go for an alternate. So he did a half-hearted attempt to look for the stock up above while pacing the floor. I indicated to him that the component was likely to be too small to see from the floor and that he should pull the ladder over. But he was still reluctant to do anything other than use the smart device to check stock. Ended up leaving the store without buying what I came looking for. It would be nice to reassign, or get rid of, the home Depot employee out of the electrical department and that is similar to a "Radio Shack Salesman".
On a positive note, the remodeling at the front of the store is well done. There seems to be more self-checkout registers, and more sensibly arranged for customer flow. Same equipment used as before. But I like the changes.

Read moreI met a psychotic emoloyee During 2020 on October 8, I needed a vent hose for my ac unit. Online said they had 17 in-stock. So I goto the store I ask an employee for help locating this exhaust hose, he says they are not available because they are a seasonal item. I found that odd, so i replied, its a exhaust hose how is that a seasonal item, online says they're available today at this store and I want to purchase one please help me locate it
He raised his voice at me and says I am not going to help you get anything. So i replied to him with a few very choice words that upset him even more, he he. And i walked away seeking the manager. Turns out this guy was the store manager. After finding his co worker named nico, and i explained what just took place , nico apologized and took me straight to the exhaust hose I needed which was upstairs on shelf and available for sale just 50 feet away from where i got yelled at by the first guy. when i asked nico what was the guys problem why did he yell at me why did he not wanna help me, nico replied to me and said that guy is having deep personal problems and its not the first time hes done that to a customer latley. So i told nico if that guy is having such deep problems and yelling at customers maybe he should not be at work and he should be seeking professional help because he seems psychotic and a he is a liability to the workers here and to this company, nico was lost for words, the only thing nico could tell at that moment was to please avoid the other employee while on my way out. I asked nico why do i have to avoid him, is he gonna hit me or do something to me. Nico had no reply, which was also the answerer to my question,. nico was very nice and he tried to defuse the situation with profession and class. When I called corporate to complain they didnt care to know much about that employee or even the store location. They wanted more details about my self then the employee who yelled and refused me service. Dont call corporate they just collect your personal information and sale it, they dont actually care about...
Read moreUnfortunately there's no Home Depot in San Francisco but this is the closest one.
It's a nice big location and is fairly well stocked with different products although in some cases not a very large selection or very many brands - tiling and masonry tools, for example. They only had one 4 foot section which was all one brand. It did not include any budget or plastic tools for one time jobs or small repairs. (No square 4-sided plastic notch or v spreader for thinset, adhesive or mastic for instance, or any other small-scale or budget tools and the least expensive and smallest amount of white thinset available was a 55 lb bag of Versabond. for about $30) I was surprised at the lack of DIY or small job tools and materials that seem to be available, at least for tiling & masonry... I did not get an opportunity to fully explore the rest of their tools or store yet.
The garden department was better and had some very nice, different and unusual varieties of common plants; roses, succulents, annuals, perennials, herbs, vines, topiaries, shrubs, trees and a large variety of indoor plants as well as standard varieties, huge amounts of different soil / additives / fertilizer, mixed plantings, orchids and other pre potted plants that would be nice as is or good for a gift.
As with every other Home Depot ... Do not look to the employees for help or information. You are more likely to get help, advice, direction and accurate product information from me or any of the contractors or other professionals shopping there. I went to SIX people and went to 4 different sections on 2 floors looking for a non-existent tile and masonry tool section only to realize I had already found it. 🙄 Even the guy in the tile department misdirected me and told me all the tile and masonry tools were downstairs, when none...
