They have been very efficient in taking my money, but became extremely (creatively even, if feels like) disfunctional when I had to use my protection plan, to my disadvantage. By the contract of my protection plan, they were supposed to replace my phone or to give me store credit for what I paid for the phone, including taxes. They sent me a giftcard for less than that. Emails and hours on the phone with GeekSquad, the store and the obligor of the protection plan were useless. The obligor did not have a human being picking up the phone or returning voice messages. The GeekSquad number I was referred to led to a team without the means and the supervisors to do anything about it. The phone of the store had a wait time of almost one hour. A concise yet well explained and documented email I sent to the very Best Buy employee (Sarah Pettis) who emailed me the gift card was ignored. When a manager finally took my call at the Davenport (IA) store, she and the people she asked also didn't know what to do and she told me that the only way to make this right was to sue Best Buy. But the scam goes on: suing for $40 isn't worth it and a class action is difficult because, whenever you purchase online at Best Buy or use a Best Buy gift card, you agree to terms that include giving up your right to use a class action.
