Wow. Impressive. Unbelievable!! We were extremely lucky to receive an absolute First-Class tour of the (first floor) Palmer Family home by Julie. In comparison, I have been through the Vanderbilt Mansion in New York and the Hearst Castle in California, and this tour was by far better. At these other places, tour guides gave general information tours with knowledge probably gained through a text book or an assumption. Julie, on the other hand, is the primary caretaker of the Palmer residence. She lives and breathes this museum. She cleans each item. She repairs or coordinates repair/restore for each item she can't personally repair, and then she personally delivers them there. Julie plays the organ so you can witness this impressive array of over 1000 pipes. Julie is totally intimate with (I would guess) every item in this house, as she had an answer for every obscure question my wife and I had. If you live anywhere near Davenport, Iowa, or are visiting or driving through, you NEED to visit this amazing time-capsule. You will never regret taking this...
