Just returned from Fall Break. This is a tough review to write as I've been coming here with our family for almost 10 years. It's always been our favorite place. We checked in around 11PM and the front desk person had gone home for the day so security did a temporary check-in that expired at 10AM the next morning. We had to check-in again early the next day. Small hiccup but annoying. The property has definitely gone through some decline. There used to be a large kids area down in the lower level with an activities room with daily activity for kids, a play room for toddlers, and a huge arcade. That is replaced with sadly the main focus: Timeshare sales. They did take a fraction of the arcade up a few floors. The once bar area downstairs has been remodeled but was never opened. There is a decent little food spot downstairs but they close early. All drinks and food are to be purchased outside at the poolside bar. I'll be honest and share some Pro's: Great location, great pool area, friendly bar staff poolside, access to the beach. The property focuses so much on timeshare and that is where they devote most of their money AND staff. There are also privately owned condos at this property which are not maintained very well, and we found out by staying in one this trip. The light in the bathroom was out, microwave rusted, curtains broke, garbage disposal broke, bathtub stained... it was numerous. BUT the worst part was that the beds were awful! I think they were the original mattresses. Nothing but old springs and they were sunken in the middle. My husband had to sleep on the couch. We eventually checked out early. We communicated this all to our owner (through Airbnb), but she said it was highly discounted room already. We spent $1400+ for 5 days. We also were used to getting towels from the desk downstairs and did so for 3 out of our 5 days. On day 4, my husband was embarrassed and mad because in front of the man who gave us towels all week, the woman said "I'm sorry those are for guests of the Wyndham Resort ONLY." He was instructed to go over to another desk of the privately owned condos and that person said, you have to use towels in your room. You are given different bracelets you are required to always wear on property that distinguishes you from a resort person or a guest of the private owned condos. I went online to see how much summer would be in a Wyndham Resort website and same rooms were about $4,000 for a week. SERIOUSLY!?! Wow. Sadly, my family will have to find another property to spend our time and money next year. Very disappointing. Daytona has been my second home for well...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe GOOD: This was our first time staying here. Check in process was a breeze and EVERYONE at the reception desks were helpful and super nice throughout the entire stay. The lobby alone gave me confidence that our room was going to be awesome. Our room was on the 9th floor and it was beautiful. Super spacious and clean with an ocean front view! While booking the room it description said it had a queen and twin bed but the beds felt more like a king and full size. (Both beds in one bedroom) Beds and pillows were really comfortable. Probably the softest sheets I've ever felt from a hotel/condo/resort. The bathroom was nice and clean. You can't hear footsteps or yelling or anything. Really peaceful room unless you open the balcony door but that's to be expected with the pools being directly under you. The kitchen had plenty of utensils, flatware, dishes and glassware. All in all the room was perfect for a family of 4. ( 2 adults, 7 year old and newborn). I called the owner and extended our stay by one day because we just were not ready to leave! There were 2 pools to use and a lazy river even a water slide! Easy beach access too! Live music in the lobby as well as a Starbucks and their own bistro. The NOT-SO-GOOD: The bistro's prices seem really high! It would have cost us over $60 for 3 people to eat and that seemed a little steep for what they offered at lunch. Breakfast alone was $35. There are NOT ANY VENDING MACHINES ON SITE. You can find drinks at the Eatery but they close at 6 and then you'll have to walk to the 7-11 for drinks if you didn't pack any. DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING BY THE POOL THAT CLOSES AT 10 WHEN ITS ALMOST 10PM! We left our shoes by our lounge chairs at 9:45pm so we could walk on the beach. We were gone about 20-30 minutes and when we got back not only were we locked out of our entry way back to the pool deck but once we finally did get it we noticed our shoes were missing. I checked with the front desk twice before midnight and they had not been turned in yet. So we had to walk around barefoot for the remainder of the night (thank goodness we didn't have to go anywhere). FINALLY FOUND THEM in the security office on the lowest lever when checking out the next day.
Would we stay here again? Maybe... It was a beautiful room and we enjoyed our stayed I would have given it 5 stars but the whole shows debacle was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThere are pros and cons to stay here.
Pros: Location: The location right on the beach is absolutely gorgeous. The sunrise is breathtaking and the convenience of just stepping out into the surf is wonderful. This is what you are really paying for. Lots of places to eat. Several pools: There is a full out door pool with slide, lazy River, another full pool, kiddie section with slides, 2 hot tubs (this is all outdoors) and 1 indoor pool. They offer some scheduled events like movies and live music. A family of 6 can stay here but tight. Some hotels only allow up to 4. Public parking connected to hotel. Nice Kitchen, Plates and silverware available. Has washer and dryer. Nice updating waterproof flooring.
Cons: From the moment you arrive, the feeling you get from out in parking, coming in, going to multiple desks, outdoor pool people, cleaning people, etc. is unwelcoming and that your just another person to take care of. Itās a shame! *We arrived 30 minutes after check in, went to our room and there was a young cleaning lady in the room by herself, standing in the kitchen, no cleaning items, doing nothing. We asked if she had finished and she told us she didnāt speak Spanish. So we asked her in Spanish and she couldnāt even answer! LOTS of rules! OMG!!!! They send you an email with a huge list! With all we had to do it took us 2 hours to actually get in room. (Confusing parking, room, going to different reception) Buildings seems to be getting updated. 4 floor is especially obvious with wood in hallways, hallway partially painted and smelly. The unit we stayed in had older furniture in the 1 bedroom, door had extra lock ripped off with holes left and the doors seemed ābanged upā. Bring your own beach towels or pay to rent? š Get 1-2 toilet paper rolls and go buy your own. Get 1 roll of paper towels and 1 garbage bag, go buy your own. Empty garbage, take care of towels, etcā¦. 4 people sleep in ONE room. Pull out hee in living area was extremely DISGUSTING! Stains on the mattress and seemed like they never cleaned in it. Check in is later than most hotels and check out is earlier than most.
All units might not be the same and you might be willing to overlook the cons for...
