I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. My fiance & I came from out of town expecting to have a decent experience, which wasn't asking for much being as the strip was dead as a door knob due to chilly weather, as was the restaurant. Our waitress was a very unpleasant, uncaring woman named Mary. Once seated I requested a water with extra lemon & an appetizer of fried mushrooms. The water was delivered & before I could begin to remind Mary of the lemons she was gone. After about 10 minutes she was back to take our order. My fiance ordered a standard burger with extra onions & myself a buffalo chicken wrap, with hot as my option for the sauce. The extra lemons for the water still had not been brought to us, so again I reminded her. The only time we saw Mary prior to our food being brought to us was when she was attempting to make conversation with the gentlemen at the bar or making jokes with the other waitresses throughout the restaurant. Another 10 minutes had gone by & out she came with our meals (& finally) the lemons for our water which needed to refilled. I inquired about our appetizer that was no where to be found, and she appeared to be completely taken off guard stating that she would "follow up with the kitchen staff". The excuse she returned with just so happened to be as much of an antic as our entire experience at the cruisin cafe. She placed blame on the kitchen staff "they lost the order, we'll have it out to you soon". Keep in mind there was only ONE other couple in this restaurant that was seated eating, the other folks (no more than 5) were sitting enjoying drinks at the bar. My fiances burger had close to no onions when he requested extra, & my buffalo chicken wrap had not one drop of buffalo sauce, I had to add my own hot sauce. As we were coming to an end with our meals & full the mushrooms were finally being brought out. As expected, they were horrible. When someone requests something fried, they don't mean fried to the extent that you can barely bite through the crust. Needless to say we ate one & left the rest to be wasted. When the check was brought out to our surprise the mushrooms (almost $9) were still included. When we presented a $50 visa gift card to Mary she stated that their machines had been giving them difficulties with cards including the number 4 (something that should be told prior to taking orders). Oddly enough when my fiance gave her his credit card (which just so happens to include the number 4 more than once) the charge went through just fine, which leaves us unsatisfied customers to keep an extra eye on our bank account hoping no additional charges will be added. With plenty of years experience in the restaurant & hospitality industry we are more than understanding that at times things become hectic & the service provided is not always the best that it can be, but given the circumstances (7-9 customers short of an empty restaurant) there should be no reason for these simple tasks that Mary was trained & is paid to do to go undone with the utmost respect for...
Read moreI just had what was probably the single most awkward experience that I have ever had at a dining establishment, tonight at the Cruisin Cafe. I went in there to have dinner with my mother and my two daughters who were both visiting from out of town, it the first time any of us had been there. The decor was really cool and the food was great and the service had been pretty good until, towards the end of our meal our server (who had already brought our ticket to our table and left it) walked up to our table and abruptly inturupted me in mid-sentence in a conversation with my daughter to ask if she could take my payment now. I was shocked by her crass rudeness but I handed her the ticket and my credit card. She then left our table only to return a few minutes later to hand me my card back but she also gave me back our ticket and a pen. So, I assumed that my signature was needed for the credit card validation, so I signed the receipt, put it back in the holder and set it aside. Our server returned to our table a few minutes later and once again inturupted our conversation to ask if she could take the ticket again. I gave it to her. And for the next 10 minutes or so, while my daughters and I were finishing up our conversation the server seemed to be hovering around our table. I realized that she was(very obviously) hinting and waiting for a tip. I had not written in a tip amount on the ticket because I only had so much left on my card and had decided to give her a cash tip. I was very close at this point to deciding not to tip her at all due to her crassness. Then as we all stood to prepare to leave, I was just reaching into my pocket for my wallet to get money out to give her her tip, but before I could complete that action, she approached our table and with a very accusatory look on her face and a very interrogative tone of voice, asked "was everything OK or.... " it was very obvious that the unsaid part of that thought was 'where is my tip' at that point I had had enough! I left without leaving a dime! I have NEVER left a dining establishment without leaving a tip. I am in the food and beverage industry myself and I fully understand the importance of tipping! I almost felt like I 'dined and dashed' because, for me, the tip is a required part of the bill! But this was just beyond rude and in very bad taste and there was just no way I was going to give gratuity for such...
Read moreThe Service and food were both horrible, they were out of a lot of things. I personally ordered Sweet Potato Fries $13, I received a small like a nacho tray like you get at a school carnival of sweet potato waffle fries the picture on the menu showed regular fry cut sweet Potato fries they were hard and had more crisp then potato chips and to hard to eat. Sent it back to be re done (they clearly had been in the fryer to long) the waitress came back with regular fries and said the kitchen said that is how they all are but never came and said that and asked if I wanted something else just brought me regular fries. My husband had a quesadilla it tasted like one you can get at the local grocery store in the freezer section so eatable but clearly not made there on site that was $15. My brother had the Nacho's that was $20 it was a plate full of chips out of a bag with nacho cheese and some meat was supposed to have chili on it but the only only sign that there may have been chili on it was a few red beans. his wife had the fish and chips she said the fries were okay but the fish was frozen fish and it looked more like fish nuggets and only had 2 pieces that was $16 soft drinks and tea were $3.50 each our total bill minus my food that was sent back and a $10 credit on the nacho's the total was $58.58 We were originally going to Joe's Crab Shack but my sister in law is allergic to shell fish the amount of the bill is not an issue the issue is they over charge for food that is not even subpar and McDonald's would have been better. After we paid we left and went else where to eat. i DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. The only positive thing about this place is the theme, it is great for photo's but even with that said it could use some updating. I will never go back even if it was the last restaurant on earth. If you go it is at...
