Historic DeKalb Courthouse — Attraction in Decatur

Our daughter wanted this venue for her wedding and had to book it a year and a half away. When the date came we arrived to set up only to find the ceremony room was filthy (you could barely see through the windows). The "Bridal Suite" was unusual and very inefficient. It is located in the basement, 3 floors from the ceremony. The bathroom had sheetrock and insulation falling down. We had been told this would be fixed before the event, but nothing was done. During the wedding the fire alarm went off. We were told someone would be on site at all times, but the person in charge left the building. We had to meet the fire department and after a lengthy ordeal they were able to turn the alarm off. Several of the electrical outlets in the main lobby did not work, so we had to use our own extension cords to get needed electricity for the bar. The kitchen is not set up for catering a meal, there is no oven or warming area to keep food hot. This venue was very disappointing and is not set up for weddings. The website is very deceiving as it mostly promotes weddings and receptions, but in reality it is not equipped for this...

A magical place noting we hosted a wedding there on 1 2 3 1 2 3! We appreciated Molly and others at The Old Courthouse who assisted us having organized both the ceremony and the reception at this location. The historic aspects of the building added much to what was a very enjoyable evening. We had no issues and our guests were impressed with both the building's beuaty; the wedding ceremony/reception set-up; and overall flow of the evening. I wish to also recognize the staff of Atlanta's Finest Catering (led by Lorie) who in total added so much to a very beautiful wedding. I highly recommend the Old Courthouse On The Square location for any wedding. As we also hosted +150 guests, access to the Historic Decatur Square shops/restaurants was another plus noting The Brick Store Pub and Folk Art restaurants were frequently visited.
