Super odd experience tonight at a place I used to love. Itās been a year since my last visit so I didnāt realize the prices increased again. I asked for a single scoop and the girl prepared it and entered it into the register- $5.00 for a very small scoop in a cup. As someone who had only gotten doubles before, I realized the value in getting a double for $7.50 and after she was done with the other items in my group, I politely asked her if it was too late to make my single a double, and if not, itās okay. The girl claimed, āonce itās scooped, we canāt take anything back. But, I can put another scoop on the side.ā - So I said, sure that would be great!
She put an identical scoop in another cup and set it down, read our total. We then realized that instead of charging me for a double, she was charging me $10.00 for two single scoops!! We asked if it was an error, and she said, āno, itās because you have two single scoop cups so itās $5.00 each.ā Through common sense thinking, I wouldāve assumed me asking for a double, and her offering to āput it on the sideā wouldāve meant Iād then be charged for a double- but no. We asked why she didnāt mention that Iād be paying for another single scoop when she offered to put it on the side, and she didnāt have an answer. A moment later she reversed her no takeback policy and asked if I didnāt want the extra scoop. She updated the total, took the cup, snippingly said āhave a good nightā and was halfway into the back before we could even respond.
Iām sorry, but in what world would you think that I was implying I wanted to buy two separate single scoops and pay $5.00 for each of them separately? The employee offered to put a scoop āon the side,ā she didnāt say, āyouāll have to buy another single scoop.ā Two single scoops are the same size as what youād get for a ādoubleā - am I really being charged $2.50 for the extra tiny cup? If thatās the case, she couldāve just dropped the scoop onto my single (plenty of room), or even into my hands, or a napkin if it meant not having to pay $2.50 for it to be handed to me in another tiny cup. I doubt the management is that stingy.
What has this place become? It was just so weird...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYesterday I ordered absolutely delicious ice cream for my family. I was wearing my glasses attached with a string over my ears, and a mask with another string over my ears. Underneath these layers was my hearing aide. When I finished reading the list of ice cream choices, I inadvertently dropped my hearing aide. I did not realize I had lost it until late at night. In the morning I called the ice cream shop. Much to my amazement and relief, the lovely salesperson sweetly said she would check the lost and found. She promptly notified me that the hearing aide ( a very expensive and indispensable item , by the way) was found. We drove to the store. The saleswoman quickly retrieved my hearing aide. Not only does this store have outstanding ice cream, but also the nicest people working there. They were kind, polite, and helpful! I cannot thank them enough for being so nice. I would recommend ā Butter and Cream Ice cream ā to anyone who wants the best ice cream ever served by the nicest people anywhere! Also, my granddaughter has terrible peanut allergies. They washed the scoop in the back room so no trace of peanuts might be on the scoop. Then they served her her ice cream treat . I am grateful for stores like yours ....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I just visited the Decatur location last Saturday for the first time to buy some ice cream. We had our ten pound maltipoo on a leash with us as we walked in and one of the workers told us that dogs are not allowed and asked us both to leave. I stayed inside and ordered while my husband waited outside on the sidewalk. The menu actually included dog treats so I found it odd that he said dogs arenāt allowed but I didnāt object. As soon as I bought the ice cream and I walked out, a white couple walked in with a much bigger dog and the same worker saw their dog and did not tell them to leave. We stood outside eating our ice cream and watched as that couple was able to eat inside with their large dog and have no issue. As a note, their dog was not a service dog. Itās unfortunate that a nice Saturday afternoon was ruined because of this and on top of that I had to stand outside in the sun and eat my ice cream at seven months pregnant just because Iām black. When we complained to the manager she just said sorry that happened smh. Iām an attorney and a resident of downtown Decatur so itās very upsetting and I wonāt be back if I have to deal with discrimination that...
