**Update I had the pleasure of speaking to Mallory this morning which is who I was dealing with throughout the process of planning my wedding and who has been wonderful throughout the who process! Mallory was not there throughout the chair ordeal but however she was very apologetic and offered to refund the chair the deposit. I really appreciate her for reaching out to me!
I recently got married there and the venue was beautiful. However, I paid 500.00 for the gold chairs and my coordinator was told that I did not pay for the chairs and that he only had access to the white chairs. Although I previously told my coordinator that I had paid for them and I am not sure why my coordinator did not call me to get my receipt or anyone who works at the venue. I didn't find out that the wrong chairs were put out until my guest had arrived. My coordinator was told her could get the chairs but the white chairs had to be put back where they belonged which irritated me because it was their mistake in the first place. Apparently getting a refund wasn't an option so we had no choice but to ask the guest to get up and exit while the other chairs were set up. I think that was very embarrassing and unprofessional. Read moreWe got married at the Dekalb Historic Center and it was a great time! Mallory was there to answer any questions. She was helpful with a situation we had with our gift table and was very responsive and even reviewed footage to help us out figure out what happened.
The catering team had a prep area to use. the venue was wonderful for photos and to host a 120 person wedding. DHC had a spot to store some extra supplies to make the transition easier for set up. It was easy to bring alcohol in for the wedding. As well as all the decore needs. Since we had dinner family style the back room was used as the bar which was perfect to give people a chance to step away from the music if needed.
We enjoyed our time so much we ended up extending our time for an additional hour to make sure everyone was able to enjoy their time. Being in the square it was walking distance from the hotels we had blocks at and there are a bunch of restaurants to let guests choose from.
We highly recommend this venue for a wedding or...
Read moreThe DeKalb History Center Museum is the perfect location for your wedding day! The venue can seamlessly transition you from wedding ceremony to reception within the same space. As a wedding photographer, I love the freedom within the space that allows me to photograph the wedding from many angles that most venues don't provide the luxury to do. I was able to capture the day from multiple perspectives and easily transition from bridal prep portraits to the ceremony location within seconds. I would inform all future wedding couples looking for a venue, do not doubt this venue as a selection. I truly believe it is the perfect pick with endless parking options very close to the venue in heart of downtown Decatur....seconds away from Decatur Marta...
