Let's start with the atmosphere. We went to the highest level where there's a nice little, low ceilinged hardwood barroom filled with educated types at nice cozy little, properly heighted tables, engendering a gentle cacophony of chatter punctuated with the occasional deep belly laugh. Great atmosphere. No macho, no goofy, no pretense.

The entire menu for both food and drink is on your phone, so it's not exactly easy to check out but probably most people reading this are used to the phone menu thing.

They have a decent assortment of beers and spirits and wines. I stuck with some Belgian in a can and it was good. And cold. One pal had draught and another Mezcal, and they were pleased.

The servers took turns stopping by and they did a really good job of that. They were friendly but not pushy, grad student types.

The food is where the drop off comes. We ordered some fish and chips for the table and out came four pieces of limp microwaved fish sticks. There would be another Boston Massacre if they served anything like that up in New England. But maybe the lesson here is, This is not New England, Captain Jack! Really tasteless, could almost not see any fish inside of them. Do not believe any review that tells you those fish and chips are good. They're abysmal, esp for the price.

Then we turned to the vaunted soft pretzel. Once again, Manhattan would break off from New York City and float into the sea if you tried to foist one of these on a NYer. Another microwaved nightmare.

So, in summary, if you're looking to hang out in a friendly, professional atmosphere with polite hard-working servers dispensing good drinks, this is the place. Just don't come hungry.

As a final note, we were in the pub area. It is very possible the restaurant downstairs serves fantastic food,...

Visiting the Atlanta area and Decatur. Came here to BSP on my birthday week -- accompanied by sister who recommended it.

Service was prompt, and got seating for two indoors rather quickly.

The server lady was rather kind and accepting for the most part. Allowed us to sample and taste-test a few of the alcoholic drinks.

Ultimately, for drinks our table had the: Creature Comforts, tastes like flowers (6 oz) Cigar City Maduro (half-pint)

Both drinks were good. I sampled a few, wasn't excited by anything, and after apps I sampled the Maduro, and decided I liked it, so I ordered a half-pint off the menu. The drink is shaped like a cigar, hence the name. It had a deep, rich, and manly taste to it, that I decided agreed w/ me after all. I would get it again.

For apps, we had the Pork Belly. It came w/ bread, and was pretty spot on. A bit on the fatty side, but that's as expected for the dish.

I had the Classic Grilled Chicken sandwich after much debating. Wanted to try beef, but I'd had steak the day before, so wanted to limit my intake of red meat. The chicken sandwich was acceptable, and rather spot on. Went well with my drink, I will say.

All in all, the ambiance was quaint and old school, and gave off authentic pub vibes. I decided that I liked it. Overall, I would recommend stopping by this place if you are ever visiting the Decatur area of Georgia. It is a pretty decent pub, good food and lots of menu choices, have a rating system built into their online menus, and drinks have sufficient variety and taste -- it helps that they allow you to sample as many drinks as you like.

Try the BSP out, you won't be...

I’ve been going to Brick Store for over 10 years so it brings me a lot of pain to say this restaurant is going down hill. It’s not just this time I was disappointed, but after 5-10 times coming here the service is much slower. In addition the food quality is poorer and portions with the apps are smaller than they used to be. The cheese plate is small and honestly not worth the cost. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was extremely tough tonight. It’s crazy think the beer garden food is better quality then the food served in the restaurant. It was a little surprising to me since it was a Friday night and it was much slower than expected and the service was way below average. Although Brick Store has a special place in my heart, the past year I’ve had some pretty negative experiences. The beer takes up to 15-20 minutes to get and recently some of my beer orders have been completely forgotten about. Although to their credit the beer today that was forgotten was on the house. I come here for the quality and service so after today I feel I have to leave a negative comment. Today, I saw employees smoking cigarettes in the beer garden when it used to be extremely frowned upon even smoking a cigarette in the alley for customers. If this service keeps going in this direction I will spend my money elsewhere. I leave this comment for the owners to hopefully improve what I have experienced the past year. I hope you fix these issues because this used to be my favorite bar. I come here a lot and bring my friends from out of town to show off this amazing beer bar and...
