BUYER BEWARE! Worthmore Jewelers Decatur are scam artists. They will upsell their jewelry which they know are worthless. This claim is not alleged nor untested. I purchased a bracelet for $600 in good faith, which was a birthday gift to myself. I wanted to make sure that the piece was genuine, after spending my hard earned money. I had it appraised by not just one appraiser but three. The bracelet that I spent $600 on was only worth $25. I don’t know but $600 is not something you could just forget and say lesson learned. I went back to Worthmore told them what I had learned from (3) appraisers and kindly requested my money back. The salesperson was rude but eventually yielded. Although they said they refunded the money, I have yet to receive the funds. My financial institution had put my account on hold due to fraudulent attempts of access. In so doing when Worthmore claimed they returned the money, my bank had suspended my account while pursuing the fraudulent attempts. My bank informed me that any attempts to deposit money into my account at the time would not be accepted during their investigation. They assured me that the money from Worthmore would have been returned to them. The salesperson insisted that they did not receive the returned money. Hence, now I am out $600 for a piece of jewelry worth $25. I have requested the funds returned by either check, cash or to another bank account. The salesperson refuses to help reclaim my money in any way. This is not how any respectable vendor stands behind the quality of their products nor is this any indication of good customer service. Let’s not also forget that the piece I was sold was actually worthless. Do not trust nor purchase from Worthmore Jewelers Decatur. I am only asking for my money to be returned. I don’t think that’s unreasonable to ask from a vendor that truly believes in doing what’s right by their customers.
August 1st I went into Worthmore Jewelers Decatur location for a name chain. I was told since it would be a custom piece I would have to put down a $500 deposit. An employee named Crow said he would have to find vendors so the piece could be made. I really wanted it done by my birthday 8/28 because it was supposed to be a birthday gift to myself. I was told that wasnt possible because it would take 5 weeks or more for this to be made. He said he was try to get it done sooner. Even though I was reluctant I wanted to trust the process. I put the deposit down. 2 weeks past and i didnt hear anything. No text no call. So i text Crow and he said he hasn’t found a vendor yet. Another week later i decided to go into Worthmore Jewelers to get an update and he still hadnt found a render yet. So now we go over pricing for this name chain and he was talking anywhere from $1500-$3000! Ridiculous for a name chain btw. Ridiculous! At this point since i already put the deposit down I say just get a chain at this point. We are now at the end of august at this point and still no product. He finds a chain that is $619 plus tax! So now i have to put down more money on a chain that wasnt in the plans? No. I asked an item that is already in the store worth the deposit that i put down over 3 weeks ago. They gave me 2 options. A pair of earrings with lab made diamonds and a bracelet with the initial A on it which cost an additionial $103!! I picked the bracelet. After i left i took it to a few appraisals and pawn shops just to see if it was really worth the $600 i just paid for it and guess what!? NOPE IT WAS WORTH $25!!!! I went back to Worthmore Jewelers and told them i want my money back!! After going back there 3 more times then they decide to refund me but wait theres more! They refund me the money back to the (discover) card i paid with. 3 days later my account gets closed for fraud and i see no money!! I never got my refund! These people are scammers!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT! What they are doing is ILLEGAL AND SHOULD BE HELD...
Read moreThis past Wednesday after finishing lunch with friends in downtown Decatur, I finally stopped into nearby Worthmore to see if they could repair a few pieces of my jewelry, including if they could separate two necklaces that had become tangled with one another. I had stopped into the Decatur location some weeks before to inquire about their jewelry repair services; as such, I was simply returning as promised, with my jewelry in tow.
I was greeted warmly upon entering the store, which represents the theme of my review today: the staff at Worthmore is quite professional, knowledgeable, and very good (understatment) at what they do (more on that below). However, the difference-maker in working with them is how they treat each and every customer, including the warmth, respect, uniqueness, fun, integrity, and humanity that each person brings to the team to create and sustain a first-class customer service experience = a true pleasure to shop at Worthmore.
The main issue for me at this visit ended up being the tangled chains/necklaces that I could not get apart - one was a gold fine chain, and the other a slightly wider sterling silver chain. Each chain had a pendant, and those pendants could not have been more different from each other.
What I thought would be a cake-walk for a jeweler to do in little time, ended up being more complicated and time-consuming.
Crow, worked on the project first, followed by Dan. They each worked diligently, efficiently, creatively, and tirelessly to unentangle/separate the chains, and did so without damaging them. While this all was happening, I cringed at the idea that what I originally perceived to be a quick and small project was turning more laborious, and I even felt slightly embarrassed for being the cause of this predicament.
At no time did Crow, Dan, or Susan - another jewelry consultant I spoke with extensively while I waited, and who taught me about the pieces of a few unique designers that Worthmore sources and carries at their locations - ever make me feel like I was anything but a valued customer with a concern that they were determined to address if doing so were reasonably within their capacity and capability as a collective team.
Result: They did it!
My chains were separated successfully, and I now have a new jewelry store/jeweler that will be my first stop going forward for all of my fine jewelry needs. I am super excited to start acquiring some of the pieces on my wish list this fall/winter as we head into the holiday season.
Crow, Dan, and Susan (and, I imagine all of the other jewelry consultants at Worthmore) put their heart into their work, and it shows. They remember the human part of service, sales, and the customer relationship, and I think that practice makes all the difference for those of us who value that part of a shopping experience, including all that may come after that initial purchase.
And ... Dan certainly gets the prize for being the most patient with me and this project. I always truly admire others who can maintain their patient demeanor because patience is not one of my personal virtues (though God continues to work on me, LOL).
I recommend Worthmore Jewelers highly and without reservation.
P. S. 😬 Let this be a very hard lesson learned by me, that turns out to be a very easy lesson for you, sans having to experience it: PLEASE USE YOUR TRAVEL JEWELRY ORGANIZERS, even at the last minute or for short trips, quick gym visits, etc. DO NOT ever just quickly "throw" a few pieces together in a small pouch because you do not have time or cannot find or do not have a travel jewelry...
Read moreI won’t be setting foot in this store again due to how I was treated. This will be long but I think any prospective clients need all the details.
I came in for a routine resize of my wedding ring set due to a medical condition that causes my fingers to swell in the summer. My rings are only 2 years old.
The original sales person was nice but did not tell me that it would cost $400 until after I spent 30 mins doing various paperwork and quality checks. I decided to go with it anyways because of the stellar reviews this location has and they said they had an in-house jeweler which made them better.
When I came to pickup my ring the first time, that was when the trouble started. I immediately noticed that the wedding band had a large remnant of solder on it, on the vertical side, so the rings would not sit flush together. I wish I had taken a picture (the attached pictures are the FIXED results). It was truly unacceptable.
From there, the new sales person proceeded to hedge and gaslight me every which way, including “well its handmade its not going to be perfect. Its only .7mm off. They’re not supposed to sit flush together in the back. If we made it any thinner we can’t guarantee it won’t break.” That last one to me sounded like a threat that they were going to make it worse if I made them redo it. And my ring is maybe 2-3mm wide max, .7mm difference is huge. It was truly insane that she was trying to convince me it was normal.
She then got a manager, who somehow managed to be more rude and condescending. She threatened again that making it thinner would break it. I said I only wanted it to be the same width as it was originally, and if they weren’t capable of doing the work they should have told me before they took it. Then she snottily said “well it didn’t even fit before?” fat-shaming me and acting like they were the only option I had. It DID fit, it could just be hard to take off sometimes. I would rather have a small ring than a mutilated one that fits. I wanted to take it home then and there and take it to someone who actually cared about the integrity of their work.
They finally agreed to redo it only when I told them if this was the quality of work they were okay with then I wanted a discount. I am not paying $400 for a sloppy job. She begrudgingly said they had to “send it back off to the jeweler” for a couple weeks like that would be a deterrent, but it was VERY INTERESTING because they swore up and down originally that they were better because they had an in-house jeweler, which was clearly a lie.
I was dreading going back to pick it up again but I dealt with much nicer people on pickup. The rings were not perfect but looked much better.
Since coming home I’ve noticed that the rings only sit flush in one configuration, if the engagement ring gets flipped there is still a gap. The interior/horizontal side is also thinner/not consistent where they expanded it. See the attached pictures.
Overall I was highly disappointed. My friend in San Diego, one of the most expensive cities in the world, said she paid $50 for hers and it came back perfectly the first time. I wish I had shopped around but again, I trusted the reviews. Here is your warning.
Also if they try to respond and say I’m not a client, this account is under my...
