Squash Blossom Boutique — Local services in Decatur

My visit yesterday at squash blossom was most disappointing. I purchased a leather belt for $95 a while back that I didn't end up wearing. It still had all the original tags and was wrapped in the tissue paper and bag from the original purchase. I didn't expect to receive a return for the item, but to be able to exchange it for something else or receive a store credit or work out something else with the manager. The same style belts are also on current display in the store, so it's not an item no longer being sold. The manager handled my request in a very unprofessional way. She was very condescending in her tone and body language telling me that she won't take the item back as the style is no longer being sold. When I inquired that the same belts are on display for purchase, she responded that those were in a different color and texture and there's nothing she would do for me. I am a retail manager myself and fully understand return policies and implications. What was beyond disappointing, is how the manager handled this situation and the lack of friendly customer service. I can go to Walmart and receive better service than at squash blossom. From a unique boutique in my community I expect unique and friendly service, a manager who is understanding and able to handle a simple customer request with empathy. She wasn't even interested in trying to find a resolution, but was only concerned with a potential loss to her profit. She treated me like a transaction, not like a customer who you want to feel happy when they leave. I was so disappointed with how I was treated that I left the belt and its original on the counter. When I informed the manager that I would leave my purchse with her, she said "ok". I will not go back and also tell my friends about the terrible...

I absolutely love and adore shopping at the amazing Squash Blossom Boutique (SBB) because it embraces an atmosphere of warm earthy tones; love the brick; and soft, soothing, chill music. Sounds like old school mix and acid jazz. Oh yes! It is an amazing experience and owned, operated by women of color that provide superior service.

I always shop at SBB for beautiful accessories, unique apparel; funky hats before I go on vacation or attend a special social event. SBB sells fantastic, gorgeous, unique apparel and accessories. SBB makes me so very happy, provides a chill atmosphere. Thank you women of color owned and operated successful business.

I’ve always loved the unique items offered at Squash Blossom, but even those treasures pale in comparison to the exemplary staff. A few months ago I dropped in to see if I could find just the right gift for a close friend who had just lost her mother. A blue and tan Hobo tote caught my eye, and as I was checking out, I mentioned the reason for the purchase. Immediately the assistant went into overdrive to help make the gift even more special. It was as if the presentation of the elegantly wrapped tote would help ease my friend’s pain, and guess what? It did!
