I just saw a show at the roxy for the first time in I honestly don't know how long, and I have to say the sound was literally THE WORST I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. Several songs into the headlining act it sounded and also SMELLED like half the speakers blew out, which I really don't understand because that was the QUIETEST HIP HOP SHOW EVER PERFOMED. I have seriously heard better sound from a teenager's backyard birthday party, and I'm not joking. I don't know how the speakers could have even blown while the sound was so quiet.
Additionally we were informed upon arrival at the venue the the widely advertised ticket price of $20 at the door magically went up to $25 because " we had to close for covid". While I completely understand how badly this pandemic has impacted the artistic community, just add the cost to the ADVERTISED TICKET PRICE. Horrible business practice to ask people upon arrival to pay higher than ANY advertised price for the show. The songs playing in between set changes was significantly louder than the actual performers. Would have been a great show, but this venue is absolute garbage. Even had to listen to several (I'm assuming) employees starting a "Roxy! Roxy! Roxy!" Chant, which never in my decades of concert going have I heard people chanting the name of the venue. Really salted the wound after having sat through the worst sounding show I've ever seen in my life. Hey Roxy. Get your sh*t together. That was absolutely disgraceful and I seriously feel like you should apologize to the artists and the...
Read moreSorry this won’t be a positive post.
Leading off with so you don’t get to the door like I did to find out, no bags or purses of any kind are allowed inside, so leave it in your car.
Street parking only, so get in where you fit in on your way there. Parking wasn’t bad to find.
Standing room only.
Once you go in, that’s it. If you leave, they won’t let you back in.
** They have a $14 service fee when buying tickets online from them.
It is really hot inside, especially once it starts to fill up and folks start moving to the music. They have one ceiling fan at the front of the auditorium, it’s like one of the fans from your grandparents house that shakes when going too fast and has those dusty flower looking light fixtures. You won’t fill any air from it, so bring a fan with you.
The doorway to get in is so tiny that it takes forever to get in and out of the place.
I wish they would have released the lineup for the concert so could have been more mentally prepared for the 10 opening acts prior to the headliner. 2.5 hours of my life I won’t get back, and I typically like opening artists, but after the 4 or so came on, was over it.
I wouldn’t go back no matter who is playing. Fix your AC, or get some. Even the artists while performing were complaining about how hot it was.
To leave it on a good note. Pro: they past out water bottles during the show...
Read moreThe security was AWFUL. They were very rude and before we even came up to the venue they assumed my friend was under 21 and demanded her hands for Xs. Her birthday is the 26th so as you know an ID takes some time to be mailed out. They would not accept her temporary ID which is instance because all the bars in Denver does. They accused her of drinking in the venue (she’s 21 anyways) and screamed in our faces to leave. The female security got physical with us and grabbed my of age friends drink out of her hand and threw it. She grabbed us and pushed us. The male and female security got in our faces because they THINK they seen my friend drink and did not (once again of age). I will get the way they treated us resolved. It was very unfair and they got physical and cursed at us. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE. I demand someone reaches out to us to resolve they way they treated us which was awful. I will seek help until we get justice for...
