I stumbled into The River a few months ago at the Five Points location after straining my ankle hiking the collegiates. After dropping into my first hot yoga class with Makayla, I decided to sign up as a full-time member immediately.
I went in thinking my experience at The River would be about balance, flexibility and core strength, but I got so much more out of it. My golf swing became more controlled, my basketball shot improved, my dance moves were more fluid, and I was able to build resilience to injury better than ever at 36 years old.
The River is not just a yoga studio, it's a community. The last year for me has been plagued with loss and grief, and The River was my rock that kept me in a good mental space to get through these tough times. The breathwork, meditation, and community events have been amazing, and all the teachers are extremely motivating with their unique teaching styles and personalities.
I never thought yoga would be a practice I'd fit into, but The River has welcomed me with open arms. I highly recommend The River to anyone looking for a new studio or interested in trying yoga for the first time :)
Thank you to all the teachers that have worked with me and helped me with my yoga practice along the way: Danielle B, Mallory, Kendall A, Mona, Vanessa, Steph, Aimee, Makayla, Precious, Charlie, Lisa H, Mona, Shae, Talon, Karina, Carolyn, Meghann, Rachel W, Lisa P, Krystal, Donna, and so many more I look forward to working with...
Read moreI just joined as a full member of a yoga studio that I have never... set... foot... in! How does that happen!? The River Yoga became my answer how to personally deal with Stay Home. It was recommended to me by a friend in Denver. I was at first skeptical participating in a livestream yoga class since I have always enjoyed the atmosphere of the yoga classroom. That skepticism turned into an addiction! The instructors are talented at not only yoga, but creating a sense of community with all of their students. What is also great is that as a 59 year old intermediate yoga student who never pushed herself, the instructors gently nudge you to achieve the most out of your practice. (I always start my practice by telling myself I’m just gonna take it easy today, but then breath by breath I am drawn in and before I know it I have attempted the more challenging variations offered as options to some postures, I’m feeling stronger!) Finally, while I have never met any of The River community in person, I have become confident keeping my camera on, interacting with the instructors, and participating in all the extras that come with my membership. This Jersey Girl has found a Yoga home in Denver and can only say even The Boss...
Read moreThis is a really special place. The studio owner and yoga instructors at The River have created a space where everyone belongs, is seen and welcomed into the community exactly as they are. This studio has changed my life and words can’t express the gratitude I have for being a part of it.
Regardless of your fitness level, yoga is for every body, mind and spirit. Even if you just show up and breathe, I promise that you will leave feeling changed. Classes are inclusive. I recommend Malory’s Yin + Slow Flow, Vanessa’s Deep Stretch + Meditation and Marisa’s Hot River Flow classes at this location.
In addition to yoga classes, the studio also organizes mountain retreats, international retreats, yoga teacher training, workshops, and retail. A few classes each month are made accessible with a donation based “pay what you can“ price which supports a scholarship fund for yoga teacher training.
The Five Points location is right at the 25th and Walton RTD light rail stop in a beautiful and bright space. The studio is always clean and has everything available to support you in your practice - yoga mats, hand/shower towels, yoga blocks, bolsters, blankets, and...
