Interesting spot. Came a week ago for the first time and got the (denver) chopped cheese which was more like an Italian beef in disguise, but seriously lacking flavor. Really small portion for more money than the smash burger? Saw they had some cannoli in the counter but they were just for display so decided to come back on the weekend for some.
Came today and cannoli were sold out so I got a smash burger with extra patty. They only have cannoli on the weekends and I was told it’s common for them to sell out completely on Saturday. Rest of the baked goods looked standard, choc chip cookie, etc. might make sense to make less boring baked goods and focus your energy on what is selling…
The most crazy thing to me though is that you can get a single Patty smash burger in NYC for $7 and double for $10 but in Denver you’re gonna pay $13 for a single and $17 for a double, with unseasoned patties. (7th Street Burger) not to mention Duke’s doesn’t even have fries.
I wouldn’t say avoid, but just know what to expect. Avoid the chopped cheese due to its size though. I’d imagine the single burger would have been enough though at 1/3 lb patty. Eyes were bigger than my stomach. Don’t expect to get cannoli unless you go early Saturday. Youre better off getting the Italian or caprese from Lou’s (an actual Italian focused joint…) and yacht club for a hot dog.
Key takeaway is that the single smash burger might be the only thing here worth getting and even then it’s overpriced for what you get. Nobody really cares about a homemade bun on a smashburger if it tastes like...
Read moreFlew into Denver for vacation on my birthday, decided to walk to this place close to our air bnb. We came in through the front and were immediately greeted with a warm welcome. The gentleman who helped us was friendly and polite. He helped explain the menu since it was our first time. I had the weekly special burger with grilled fresh jalapeños, it was one of the best burgers this burger fan has had. My wife had the chop sandwich, kinda there version of a Philly cheese steak, and not to put down on Philly, but uh this one was better. We tried one of the local craft beers as well as local made chips and were not disappointed. During our meal, the lady that does all the baking brought me a piece of cake with a candle for my birthday. It was delicious, a triple chocolate bundt cake, so moist and decadent. I'm not a fan of chocolate cake, but I would buy this in a heartbeat. We sat outside enjoying the patio and the nice weather for a bit, on our way out I had to go back in and buy some more sweet treats she had made. A peanut butter and jelly cookie sandwich 😍 absolute knock out and a chocolate whoopi pie sandwich worth every penny, she might even put little Debbie out...
Read moreOk, I have a love/hate relationship with this place. First off- the burgers are good, really good. It’s a greasy smash-burger with a perfectly crispy edge. Now for the bad… what do you want with a greasy cheeseburger? French fries! Well, too bad, they don’t have ‘em. You’ll have to settle for potato chips, and not normal kettle chips… they use some fancy “boutique” chips that are bland and just don’t go with cheeseburgers like good ‘ol French fries do. If this place had decent fries with their sandwiches I’d gladly give it 5 stars. I wanted fries with my burger so badly that I actually ordered fries from another place up the street and picked them up after the burger. I won’t be doing that again, and I’ll probably just go somewhere where i can get a burger and fries even though the burger won’t be as good as this place. If this place gets fries, I’d come twice a week instead of every two...
