Visiting from Chicago and I really wanted to enjoy this spot, despite the negative reviews. And even if the owner doesn’t address the concerns here, I at least hope they read them and consider the suggestions.
1st - I was dining solo, so getting a spot wasn’t hard on a late Friday morning. However, those high tops are too close at only an arms length from one another.
2nd - The black chairs are awful. Granted, I have hips and thighs AND was wearing slippery ski pants as I was headed to the slopes, but a few more dollars for some more quality chairs is recommend.
3rd - My waitress, Anna, was nice… but clearly overwhelmed. Soon after I sat in the middle table of the 3 high tops, 2 other parties were sat on both sides of me. And she proceeded to take orders all out of order, but that wasn’t a big deal.
4th - Drinks came quick, but there seems to be some confusion with table placement because I was offered the next tables drink. Again, since we’re so close it wasn’t difficult for me to quickly let the guy know what I ordered.
Now, the best worse part - I place my food order, chicken + waffles. This was after the table on the left ordered their food and before the folks to the right of me. Maybe 15-.20, mins later, my food comes - only Anna places it on the table to the right of me. A party of two. She walks away and maybe a minute or two later realizes that was my food and picks it back up from In front of the lady. She then scurries behind me, not know I’m watching all of this and goes somewhere for another 30-.45, secs and do y’all know this lady had the audacity to put the SAME plate in front of me. It was laughable. She must have read my face and knew that wasn’t a thing and asked if I wanted it to be remade. Of course I said “yes!”, but now I always wanted it to-go. Mostly because my ski rezzies had changed and needed to drive 2 hours away. But also I was just over it and couldn’t sit comfortably in those chairs or with complete strangers all in my face.
Super long story short, I ate the cold food over the course of 8 hours - before and after my snow session and it was actually tasty. The chicken had a spice to it and the eggs held together. The waffle was a waffle, but it wasn’t hard and soaked up the syrup nicely. For this reason I give it 2 stars. And 1 for the music. Mixed crowd and is probably a decent spot on a good day.
I took away one for the uncomfortable seating, and one for the food mixup (who knows if they really even remade my food).
Not sure when I’ll be back this way, but if I do - I may give it...
Read moreVisiting from out of town and trying my best to support the black owned restaurants in the area. Mimosas had a nice vibe but including the food and service, I would overall give it 3 stars. Heading into the restaurant I practically had to seat myself. There was no host and it took a while for a server to notice me. I literally had to go to the bathroom and change locations twice before someone approached me. I ordered the steak breakfast with eggs fried hard, a waffle instead of toast, and a small orange juice. The waffle was SEVERELY overcooked. Like it was crispy to the point that I could pick it up and eat it like toast, very dry. To say that it was $2 extra, for the quality, I was better off just keeping the toast. My eggs were raw in the middle though I asked them to be fried hard so I had to send them back and ask for scrambled eggs, which also came out pretty wet, seemed to be oversaturated in oil, and obviously premixed out of the carton. They were not good and I did not eat them. That was an additional $4 that I had to ask them to please take off the check since it was their mistake. That was another thing, all of the additional charges made the experience not so good. As with every other black owned restaurant I seem to visit, EVERYTHING cost extra. Waffle too dry and you want more syrup? 50 cents. Want to add onions to your already dry and overcooked potatoes? 50 cents. Need butter since they didn't bring any? Another possible charge. I asked for a small orange juice, was brought a large and was charged $6 for it. Another price dispute. Like I can't get jiggy with all of the expensive prices. Especially if it's not going to be worth it. I also ordered a flight with three beverages and it looked like they were rushed to be made. The sugar around the rim was uneven, there was no chill to the drinks and obviously no ice so they were hot, and I think two, but at least one of them, tasted really funny. Like the cup was not cleaned well. Maybe that's just what it's supposed to taste like, I'm not sure, but one of the drinks in the flight tasted like it had cleaning products in it. The flight was $15. The breakfast was supposed to be $22 and $3 for the OJ. I somehow altogether spent $50 on "brunch" for one person. I'm not a cheap person and I don't mind this price but for the food quality, service, and overall experience, it was not worth it. I will likely not return...
