We booked a party for my 5 year old. There is no "party room," which is fine. They assigned us our own theater.
My family and I arrived 15 minutes early. The usher directed us to theatre #2. I walked into the theater and there was trash everywhere from the movie that played previously. I went back to the lobby and asked if I had gone to the right room. He said, "Someone should have cleaned it." Good point. Then he walkie-talkied for someone to clean it.
I gave it 10 minutes and checked again and the same guy I was talking to was in the theater, ever-so-slowly sweeping popcorn into his dustpan. My wife started carrying trash to the trashcans so our guests wouldn't see the condition of the room.
On top of this, the hallway leading to our room was littered with spilt popcorn, which was still there when we left. I had to occupy my toddler many times during the movie, and every time she saw the popcorn mess she'd stop and tell me, "Oh, no!" lol, so it provided some entertainment for me at least.
The above is why I rated only two stars. The following is just an observation about "movie theatre parties" in general during COVID.
We threw two movie parties this weekend and both were...weird. We weren't assigned a party host or anything like that, there's no space to talk to your guests, it doesn't include food, so really, all you're doing is saying, "Let's all go to the movies. Bring a gift and I'll pay for your ticket." When the movie is over, unless you congregate and clog the lobby, there's time or place to properly thank anyone or to celebrate the birthday boy/girl.
Our parties were at different theaters. The other one was at the UA Regal in Washington Township. The "party" experience was exactly the same but at least that...
Read moreI went to see dune 2 last Friday and we took our 4 year old with me and he wasn't sitting well through it. I paid $40 plus tax and fees through the app and spent another $55 on snacks and drinks. We all know how over priced the drinks and popcorn are but I understand that's how AMC makes their money.
I shortly left with my GF and our son because we didn't want to disrupt the over movies goers and let them enjoy their experience.
I contacted AMC the next few days and they were amazing and sent over to us 2 vouchers for the movie to go see it again. I also told them about the money we spent for the popcorn and drinks that we had to leave. AMC told me to contact the manager of the movie theater to see if they can do something about it.
I called the theater the day before going to see the movie and spoke to the manager, he said no problem I will let the manager that will be on duty and just come on in they will accommodate me for it.
fast forward to last night, every body there was amazing and friendly and super helpful but the manager on duty, Cezary, he knows I was gonna write this review and he told me "do what you have to do dude". now I come from a hospitality background the way he had 0 answers for me was incredibly disappointing. I showed him he emails from AMC, showed him the money I spent for snacks and his simple reply was "I can't do anything for you".
Cezary, you are the manager of this establishment, there's always something you can do. I will not give this place a 1/5 review because I'm not here to say I had the worst experience. I know Cezary could be better with customers and their problems. It was his choice that he didn't want to...
Read moreI went to see Mary Poppins returns today, 1 pm showing. I hate that we had to pick our seats, but I believe thatâs everywhere now. When we got through to concessions, the floor was sticky, and grossed me out. We place our order, and they have it so you have to fill your own drinks, which would be fine, except they were packed, so it was really a pain trying to work around other people all trying to fill drinks at the only two stations they had. Adding my own butter to my popcorn wasnât a bad experience though, not so crowded. Plus, it allows me to add as much as I like (which is a lot, haha). When we finally got to our seats, which were terrible, but the only ones left to choose from, I opened my pretzel bites and they were so greasy, the cheese I was dipping into wouldnât even get on the pretzel. The theater was mostly empty, which irritated me more, because obviously those people ordered tickets online. I feel like theater seating should be first come, first served. But again, thatâs not just at AMC. Then there were the endless previews. The movie was a 1 oâclock showing, it was almost 1:30 and we were still watching previews. Not to mention the ridiculous commercials they played beforehand. Mostly self advertising and trying to upsell. The popcorn was mostly kernels, so that wasnât pleasant. The bathrooms were dirty and didnât function properly with the motion sensor technology. All in all, I wonât be returning to this theater again. Itâs a shame, because I used to go there all of the time and really had an enjoyable experience most times. Itâs really taken a turn...
