If you want to take a scenic nature walk, but not be “in the woods,” this is the place to go. The Detroit Riverwalk goes right through this park, and there are fabulous wildflowers on the winding nature path, with benches (& possibly a water fountain, but don’t quote me on that) along the way in case you need a brief rest, or you just want to sit and look out over the water and enjoy God’s amazing display of beauty. It’s a great place to “get your walk on” (after all, the Riverwalk does stretch all the way from downtown Detroit), or to host a small event under the quaint bandshell-like pavilion that overlooks the Detroit River, and the fabulous Belle Isle Bridge to your right when facing the river. My husband and I renewed our vows there for our 17th wedding anniversary. ♥️ The pics look like we were on a tropical island!! He has since gone to live in actual Paradise with Jesus in 2023, after 32 years of marriage ❤️‍🩹…this place is the “Keeper of...

Situated at the foot of the MacArthur (Belle Isle) bridge, Gabriel Richard Park is the easternmost point of the Detroit Riverwalk. Formerly natural and non remarkable shoreline has been transformed into a stunning urban oasis!! Butterfly 🦋 gardens, riverfront pathways, and fountains are surrounded by gorgeous sloping grassways that silence the sounds of busy Jefferson avenue. All the gorgeous landscape features native plants, attracting birds, pollinating insects and a surprising number of mammals. There are plenty of seating choices, restroom facilities, and an in season cafe. Parking is free. I never miss a chance to visit during every season, if only for the gorgeous view of the...

Beautiful segment of the Detroit Riverfront east of the MacArthur bridge to Belle Isle. There is a small parking lot in the NE corner accessible from Jefferson.

Great place to walk my dog. There are some tables and chairs at the pavilion, as well as restrooms. Beautiful landscaping along the river and it really comes to life in the spring and summer as the flowers bloom.

Easy to connect over to belle isle and in the future it will be connected to the river walk for car-free enjoyment all the way to corktown. Also probably one of the cleanest parks I’ve...
