Great in theory, a bit lacking for me in execution. I'm mostly salty because the cover was $30, if I got in free before 11pm we might've been coming away feeling different. Very much appreciate the gay-positive signs but the music & vibe were not giving me the fantasy that night! Idk if this is even possible but in my dream they could push the DJ booth back & up a bit to create a bigger, unified dance floor. I'd love to see more strobe lights, various disco balls, more of those pretty lantern clouds (I've made them myself so I know it's doable!). Vodka redbull was delish, I'd love an $8~ cocktail in there somewhere. The game room off to the side felt haphazard, I think more games instead of the toll booth would be more fun because I loved the free Pac-Man. The vending machine had cutesy snacks but not really a club vibe. What's a club vending machine need? First aid shit? Lash glue? Gum? I think it'd be funny to see little fun things people could use in there instead of candy I won't buy. Bathrooms were very clean, the staff were all nice and cool, and they have a nice lil weed-friendly smoking area where you can go cool down, although some outdoor string lighting would be cool out there too! Maybe would be more fun with a packed house because it was spring break for a lot of places this week. Get in for free if you can! Sorry idk why this place inspired all of this out of me, it clearly has potential and I can see a vision but I just left feeling...
Read moreLoved Big Pink, happy to see a new bar in Detroit and have gone many times to support it. The positives is that the venue is huge, has a free parking lot and has a great vibe, although I have a few suggestions.
My first suggestion is to get a bigger variety of music playing, the music was okay the first three times but got boring fast. Perhaps play some house music or something...anything with words. I cannot convince the majority of my friends to come back to listen to wordless beats for hours on end.
Another suggestion is hiring more bartenders and potentially moving the stage to the hangar area. Having the main bar and the dance floor in the same space makes it difficult to see whose next in line and whose just there dancing.
The bathrooms need a fix, I suggest a designated male bathroom and a designated female bathroom. I had a female friend have an uncomfortable situation in the bathroom with a male party goer and now she refuses to return.
Lastly the line outside is quiet disorganized, there should be a physical que or signage that separates ticket holders from people waiting to get in. I've been on both sides and find it uncomfortable when security tells guests to split into two lines when the bar reaches capacity.
Overall love Big Pink and will defiantly frequent again, but if it stays the same I think it might just be me alone. Will update my review if I...
Read moreThis place is trash. Everytime I've been here it has either been oversold or the entire audience drove in from Birmingham on a party bus for a "Warehouse party in Detroit". It caters to the preppy suburban scene who are too afraid to go to Detroit but want to seem cool. It's the type of place you'll find guys in the bathroom trying to clean their white Nike's after they got a little dusty in the dirt at this "Warehouse Party". Everything in this place screams gimmick. Tube TVs hooked up to a live camera, cloud LED lights in a side room that has 1 couch, and vending machines. Don't get me started on the stage set up... The main stage is under some spray painted scaffolding with covered in cargo netting and fake plants and fits about 500 people in front of it. Meanwhile, there's a hangar that could fit 2000 people that's being thoughtfully utilized for 3 ping pong tables and a coat check. If their priority was creating a thoughtful club space, they would utilize the space better and create a second stage in the hangar space. The last show I went to was oversold to the point that the space in front of the stage was packed like sardines. We couldn't dance, drinks were getting spilled on us left and right and somehow more people were shoving in.
