Get your tickets ahead of time if you're planning on doing this. The last two trips here have ended up disappointing for two polar opposite reasons. They seem to have no idea how to run this place at the moment.
Last weekend we drove 35-40 minutes mainly for mini golf that my six year old nephew had been looking forward to. We were in a group of six. Two of the people in our group had sat through an almost two hour drive form Brooklyn to get to the mall.
We got in line around 5:20-5:25 PM. When we got to the front of the line the woman told us that we had to wait so she could take someone from the prepaid line. She ended up taking at least four groups in front of us before turning her attention back to us. She proceeded to tell us that we would have to wait over one hour to play?
That is a terrible way to run a business. Looking online there were spots available for 5:45, 6:00 and 6:15. Why couldn't she have given us one of those times? Why not just tell us that there was going to be a wait when we first approached the window instead of doing it after she just let all those groups in front of us?
I emailed them after getting back and their responses to the email were just absurd. Seemed generic messages that they just copy paste into responses without addressing the issues. Two quotes from it:
1)"If you decide to come back and visit us please purchase your tickets before your visit so that you have a reserved time slot for your visit" 2) "I do hope this doesn't turn you off from visiting us again and you will give us another chance."
There were time slots available on their website. If we stood there and booked time on the app we could get on the course in 15 minutes. Otherwise we had to wait an hour. The person at counter didn't give us the app option but we had seen it. How does this make sense? Why are they not aware of how many slots are open on their website?
There should be a second person handling the prepaid customers. Don't have people getting in line if you don't plan on accommodating them at that time. Plus is it isn't even like crowd control is always done here. We were here in May as well and at that time they had so many people on the course at the same that there were multiple groups waiting on every single hole. Surely there is a middle ground somewhere.
Price and course are about what you'd expect for location but they have to figure out their...
Read moreOur experience at Angry Birds Mini Golf was extremely disappointing. My family and I came excited to play, but instead left frustrated and upset.
From the start, we were treated poorly by a staff member named Susan, who acted rudely and made discriminatory remarks that were completely uncalled for. To make matters worse, when I asked to speak with a manager, Sandra rolled over on her scooter, told us a generic “policy,” asked for my name, and then just drove off without offering any actual resolution or care for our situation.
The worst part was that they insisted on charging my disabled wife for a full-priced ticket, even though she clearly could not participate and only wanted to watch our two kids play. To make matters worse, a family of 3 came after us, and the wife was appalled because they had just paid for her husband and their 5 year old son. For a family-oriented attraction, this level of insensitivity and lack of accommodation is unacceptable.
American Dream is supposed to be a place for fun and memories, but instead we were left feeling discriminated against and dismissed. Until they address their staff training, customer service, and accessibility policies, I cannot recommend Angry Birds Mini Golf to anyone—especially families with loved ones who have disabilities.
*I have pictures and videos to prove all of this, including pictures of your attendant reading a book, (attached) not caring who walked past her, the family that came after us, and our original...
Read moreYou're probably here to ask if it worth it? I would counter with the following question: Is having your children experience different activities and things important to you?
If the answer is yes, the Angry Bird Mini Golf experience at the American Dream is arguably a great starting point for children who has never played mini golf before. What you're paying for is the convenience, a shelter from the elements, and a quirky-but-photo-op filled time.
Contrarily, this experience may not suit your needs if you or your children has experience with mini golf and looking for something challenging.
I took my oldest daughter (5 years old at the time) here during our father-daughter date. It was more so the novelty of playing mini golf that brought us here. My take from the start was not to take it from a serious and/or competitive approach even though that is in my nature. While I wanted my daughter to learn the basics of mini golf, her attention span wasn't necessarily there to grasp the concept of the game. Therefore, I just sort of let her navigate the course her own way and method (with respect to the other patrons of course), which proved to be more rewarding at the end.
There are more than a dozen holes, most of them being quite small (no more than 6 feet in length for the biggest hole) which made moving through the course very quick. Littered amongst the holes were various Angry Bird character and other structural fixings that offer kid-friendly photo...
