I like it there but my cimplaint is that I had trouble with my membership my home gym is in south Plainfield but since the one in route one in the shopping plaza is alot closer I go there and I have a black card but for some reason it said I had my brothers membership with the card that the south Plainfield planet fitness gym gave me and my brother canceled his membership because he went to the military so he didn't want it anymore. So when I went to the edison gym they said I had my brothers key card so I went to south Plainfield which is a drive and asked them if I had my key card or my brothers they said I had mine so I asked them if they could fix it and they said there was nothing wrong so but if it still gave me trouble they told me to tell the edison gym to call the south Plainfield gym. Which I did and all the employees were cool about it. But then the manager was there and I told them to call the south Plainfield gym which the employees were about to do and the manager jumped in the middle and told the employee not to do it. Even though the south Plainfield manager said they had to. So I continued to talk to them and the manger refused to call the other gym to check if my key card was valid. So then I was like its about time to fix my keycard issue l. So I asked the manager if he could assist me to fix my issue and ever time I asked he said this is not your home gym you need to go there. So I tried to explain to him that the issue only occurs here so can you check my account he then he repeated with a louder tone this is not your home gym. We cant check your account here which I knew was a lie because when the issue fist started I asked the lady employee tp check what was wrong and she said that I had someone else's account (my brothers). So then he kept repeating this is not your home gym so I asked him to call for the two gyms to communicate together to solve the issue and he repeated again the same phrase. So I left in frustration in how pitiful the customer service was. Heading to the south Plainfield gym I asked them if they could help me with my issue they said theres nothing wrong with my account and they told me to tell the employees at the edison gym that they have to call so I headed back to the edison gym again is not a drive that I consider fun. I talked to the manager and he continued to give me this problem and he refused to cooperate with me. So I went home and did not go to the gym because it was around 10 pm and I left at 6 pm and wasted 4 hours of my life. So for the a while I would check at the edison gym if the manager was working and if he was I would go to the south Plainfield gym and if he wasn't I would go to the edison gym. So I would continue this for a while until one of the employees tried to assist me he was aware of my problem so he talked to me and we came to a conclusion that it might be something wrong with the key card. So I drove all the way to south Plainfield change my key card came back to find out that it was the key card that gave me an issue which I still don't know why when it was the south Plainfield gym that gave to me when I signed up so it was the original card. The point im trying to get across is that I wasted days trying to resolve this issue myself which never was successful just because the manager refused to contact the other gym and communicate and if they did the issue most likely would have been resolved. In my opinion I shouldn't have went through this issue and nobody else should to keep in mind I work for my money just like everyone else so when I pay for something I expect to get everything that ill paying for especially when it's in a contract I pay $20 to go to any planet fitness (black card) but when I'm only able to go to one (south Plainfield) and not the other (edison) that means im paying for the $10 membership and I hardly bring a guest and I don't use the tanning bed because I don't like the side affects it brings. Read moreI will admit, I WASNT a fan of this specific PF in Edison because they had (some not all) Rude counter employees who just had no clue what customer service was and would hang out in front, on their phones and talking all about their day as if they were hanging out at their own house.. THIS IS WHERE YOU WORK.. YOUR JOB. Try and be somewhat professional.. But there were also some very friendly and courteous employees. A few other negatives were that the gym was ALWAYS super dark.. Either be because the light bulbs were the wrong wattage or some were completely burnt out for months and never repaired. That made me crazy because I felt like I was working out in a dark basement or cave or something. Who wants to pay to feel like that?? And then there was the fact that the cleaning lady was ALWAYS vacuuming and shutting down the men's bathroom to clean while it was still pretty busy.. How am I supposed to clean my hands or use the bathroom after my workout when they close it?? That really annoyed me also..
BUT tonight I went there after about a 2 month absence and was pleasantly surprised.. NEW LIGHTS! Nice and bright! And all fixed.. Then saw a sign that said closed between 2-3am for maintenance. I thought "perfect time" should be empty then anyway..
I think to make this club a good one where people will like to go, just make sure you fix whatever needs to get fixed, MAKE SURE your employees are more professional at the front desk, and have them walk around every so often to clean things up or put things away like weights. Make sure everything is where it's supposed to be. It's better to do that then just have them standing around at the front counter doing nothing except being on their phones. Also management, Check in every so often and ask your employees if there are any issues at the club. Anything that needs to be fixed, etc..
Edit: April 1st 2022 okay this club is back to its same rude staff members. Once again I was attacked by very rude staff members after I politely tried asking a few questions. This place will never change and unfortunately they do not fire the very rude staff members that treat customers so badly. I don't recommend this club to anybody especially at night time. Let me start with the temperature at the gym, its always HOT, complained several times but with no result, also called the Area Manager, he didnt even have the courtesy to return my call. One time i went to the reception to ask why the air was not on and the the girl at the front desk informed me that the air was on!!! and i questioned her why the doors were open if the AC was on her answer was she gets suffocated if the doors were closed !!!!! There were around 50 people in the gym at the time and she didnt care about the members she was only concerned about her (this is the kind of attitude the employees have there). If they even have the air on, i would say that the AC is too weak to cool the small place like that. They should change the AC with a better one.
Yes the gym is open 24 hours(mon to thru) big deal .... i work out everyday and worked out there at different times even at 4am, the gym is always busy, had to wait way too long to get on a machine. I believe the gym is over subscribed and a small place like that cannot accommodate too many people and they keep adding new members which even worsens the situation.
They suggest the times when the gym is less busy, i tried that too, went to the gym at 10pm, still had to wait for a long time to get on the machines. An average person who works 9 to 5 in my case 8 to 7 cannot go to the gym at 12am..
They should fix their air, expand and add more machines or Just open a new franchise to meet the demand.
The machines break often and it takes an average of 4 weeks to get them fix!!!!!!
