Update: My previous review (below) was that the theater was great! 5 Stars! After my visit yesterday, I cannot say the same. This theater has gone downhill, especially the IMAX. Now 2 star. I purchased tickets a month before the showing and when I got to my seat, the seat was broken. The backrest was off the seat, titled against the wall. My companions seat was broken as well, it would not recline or move in any direction. I spoke to someone and they moved me to other seats on the same row... the seats were broken there too. I walked by the aisle(s) and saw that there were many seats broken. I was not given a refund but comped for another movie. I also noticed that they have gone to a smaller "large" drink. They still will give one refill, but its inconvenient when your drink is gone half way through the movie. For reference, It is now the size of a large mc Donald's drink. The give you the jalapenos in the small cups, which there is no charge for that. The problem, for me that is, was that they were frozen. So I have frozen jalapeños on warm nachos and popcorn. I don't like frozen jalapeños on something I want to eat warm. I give it 2 stars simply because of the screen & sound, but that can mean nothing when you can't sit to comfortably watch the movie when your seat is broken. You can clearly see the difference in my before pics to the pics I took yesterday. I am very disappointed because it's the only IMAX El Paso has and to have it be in such poor condition with mediocre service is just sad.
IMAX is great! Love it! Always clean. Free Refill on large drink and popcorn. The one theater that gives you plenty of cheese on your nachos. They sometimes sell the tickets at the concession, I guess when...
Read moreAbsolutely horrified of the discriminatory abuse against my disabled children from staff and managerial staff at Premiere Lux Cine 17 (inside Basset Place). Now, with this incident, where the staff and managers defending the staff that abused my disabled children, I will STAY AWAY FROM BASSET PLACE CINEMA. I calmly explained to the 2 managers the abuse my children endured while we had spent a lot of money there that day and I told them to look at the cameras so there was proof of the abusive staff, but they refused and dismissed me. I asked for their headquarters phone number and their names; they just wrote down their first name. I tried one last time to get some justice and asked them to please bring those abusive staff members forward and the manager just looked over his shoulder and said they were busy (even though I had just seen some on their phones pretending to sweep). I've been going to that movie theater since the '90s and their staff was always wonderful, BUT NOW this new abusive staff and managers singling out the disabled are gonna burn it to the ground. P.S. El Paso friends, we're all better off going to East point Cinemas AMC on Lee Trevino, their staff is awesome and their movies are cheaper. *Bonus is that it's next to Teppanyaki Chinese/American/Mexican buffet. You can eat and then go next door to the movies, win-win and no discrimination against...
Read moreTheater is really nice and clean, and the picture and volume is great. I did not get any drinks or snacks because of the price, they more expensive than a top end 5star restaurant steak dinner.
I hadn't been to a movie in a theater years, and today I was reminded why it has been so long - the people. I spent the entire 1st hour of the movie in front of a guy with a big bucket of popcorn that had no idea how to chew with his mouth closed. Then there was the family with a baby that cried whenever the movie got loud and they just let the baby cry it out. Then there was the guy 2 rows in front of me that spent the entire movie texting and it was so distracting. There were two teenage girls in my row that spent more time talking than watching the movie, they were annoying as a splinter under your thumbnail. And, a first for me - the kid with the light up shoes down the other side of the row that would activate the lights on the seat back in front on him every 5 minutes or so.
Again, the theater is great but other people just have no idea how much they make the experience miserable. I will go back to waiting for the movie to be released for streaming since it cost the same price as going...
