Iāve given Fashion Cents multiple chances to earn my business, but every experience has left me more disappointed than the last. I take the time to carefully pack clean, branded, gently used ā and often new ā clothing, only to be handed back a disheveled tote with most items rejected. Some of my things have even come back damaged or tossed in without care, including ripped boxes. The lack of respect for consigners' items is frustrating and unacceptable.
Each time, they might accept maybe 2ā3 pieces, often the newest or priciest ones, and then keep 60% of the sale. Itās clear they prioritize items that will maximize their profit, while giving consigners very little in return. And forget about recognizable, quality brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Nike or Venus ā those didnāt even make the cut. Somehow, shelf pulls and Target liquidation items fill the racks, but actual gently used clothes from real people arenāt āgood enough.ā
This is supposed to be a consignment store, not a retail liquidation warehouse. If youāre only going to accept brand-new pieces with tags, be honest and market it that way. Donāt waste peopleās time and gas just to turn them away or insult their items with vague excuses.
No, I donāt want to spend more of my time standing with a manager for them to give me a bogus excuse on why they wonāt take my items. Iāve already spent enough time nicely folding and packing, just to make $10 while you make $15 or more off the same item. Iām beyond frustrated. At this point, I wonāt be consigning here again ā and after this experience, Iām rethinking whether Iāll shop here either.
This is how I got my stuff backā¦...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been a loyal customer at Fashion Cents Ephrata for years, shopping once or twice a week and participating in the rewards program since the beginning. Iāve always had positive experiences with the staffāuntil today.
My cashier, Eva T, asked if I needed a bag for my purchases. When I said yes, she placed everything, including two glasses, in one bag without wrapping them for protection. I thought to myself that Iād just transfer them to my diaper bag to keep them safe, but it surprised me that they werenāt wrapped.
While I was still paying, she asked for my phone number to look up my account. I provided it along with my name, as I always do. However, when I went to use my $5 reward, she asked me for an ID. In the six years Iāve shopped here, Iāve never once been asked for identification to claim my discount. When I politely asked why, she said it was to ensure I was the āreal owner.ā Honestly, I felt that giving my name and phone number should have been enough.
Even though I was frustrated, I still thanked her after completing my purchase. Unfortunately, she didnāt acknowledge me or say āwelcome backā as the staff usually do.
This was my first negative experience at this store, and it left me feeling disappointed and unwelcome. Iāve always loved shopping here, and I hope this was just a one-off situation, because until now, every interaction has...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHonestly such bad customer service here when consigning. It was my first time bringing in clothes, and some employee with curly blond hair was so rude when going over their policy with me. I brought really nice brands of clothes like Eloquii and Worthington blazers along with other pieces to be consigned. Some of them had never been worn and they all were in pristine condition and they rejected them all. I get that there is seasonal items and I brought in pieces for all seasons and they still rejected them. Then they threw them all in a pile in my basket when I brought them in folded nicely. Not worth the Hassle to wait for an hour to have them reject your stuff and be poorly educated on customer service.
They did loose out on a money maker though, found a vintage gap sweater from them from the 90ās in decent condition for $6 and it resales for $130. I guess that will make up for there unprofessional teenage workers.
Know what your stuff is worth and donāt go here. Unless you want to shop cause the massively underprice theyāre quality goods.
Update: I just read other reviews, your management should really talk to your employees about their snooty attitudes. Seems to be a trend here. If you have so many bad reviews saying that your employees are rude, TALK TO THEM. PA seriously has to catch up on the times and train there population on how customer...
